Never before seen these playback problems on my camcorder

When I try to playback, I get a clipped image and sound. OR it defaults to a right away or after one second to a blinking display I've never seen before. C:31:23 with a yellow up arrow center screen.

The cassette cartridge sticks a tiny bit on removing. I think it's the red tape cover not retracting fully

Could these be associated?
Ideas?

I have cycled through this a few times. Power off power on, reset button at control panel, remove cassette, reinsert, forward rewind. Checking the uptake reel and manually turning it with a toothpick. The tape will play more consistently now, with fewer visits to the default code, but still clips the audio and image.

Hi,

Try this out it worked for most of them who had a similar problem like urs:

First remove ur batteries

then Gently tap it twice at the end of the camera to ur plam and it will work again.

just tap it very lightly against the bottom of the camera holding it
upright.

Allow it to cool for some time then put back the batteries..

If my trick doesn't work then ...
Also remove ur memory stick and try..
Symptom:
"C:31:22","C:31:23", or "C:31:42" may appear on the LCD display.

Cause:
The FWD back tension value is too high due to grease sticking out of the "Gear Assy, Gooseneck", adhering to the band of "TG2, Arm Assy" or "Table Assy, Reel".

Solution:
Whenever replacing, simultaneously change the four parts described below.
Description Part Number
Gear Assy, Gooseneck X-2718-168-1
TG2 Arm Block Assy A-7095-403-B
Table Assy, S Reel X-3952-936-2
Table Assy, T Reel X-3952-937-1

Goodluck,
Please Don't forget to rate me as fixya.

I have VX2100 and recently had this error occur and the best safest fix
for this was to find the uptake reel the left white wheel when looking
into the tape dect and take a small item like a tooth pick and move
this wheel carfully around it will probly be slightly bound up either
on itself of the other crap behind it moving the wheel one revolution
around should free it up. the error code is indicating a bound
wheel...so fix with confidence its easy and it will save you a couple
    hundred bucks

I OWN A INSIGNIA CAMCORDER PRODUCT NS-DCC5SR09

There is an install disc that came with the unit. On this disc is the FFDshow application. This application is necessary to properly playback the video files from the NS-DCC5SR09.

Once FFDshow is installed you should have no problems with playback or editing of the video clips.

Hope this helps!

Playback on camcorder

Hi,

Have you tried to play the video files through your PC?

With the SD card inserted into a card reader, i woul dsuggest you right click on the '?' files and click 'properties' and look for the file type as it has obviously changed.

When you find the file type, you will need to download the appropriate software to view it.

I know that VLC media player (google it, free software) id an excellent media player and supports many formats.

I hope this helps a little.

Can't get rid of the screen images for video camera on playback

Hi
If it's like my Canon MVX25i date and time marking then go to the menu, select display setup (or whatever it's called on your camera) somewhere there should be a dialogue which allows you to switch the pesky thing off. I have never used date or time, a very amateurish concept in the first place.

Need to delete memory

You need to remove the memory card from the camcorder and place it into a pc or photo shops computer. This will allow you to view the saved items on the memory card. You can then save these to disc and delete the contents on the card.
