Hi Friend,
In order to turn on the wireless switch on Dell Latitude D510 laptop you have to press and hold the "Fn" key in blue color and then press the key "F2" for once and then release both of them.
It will turn on the wireless switch of the system
I assume you mean wireless router. Connect the dsl line to the modem and the modem to the wireless router and you are good to go. Securing the wireless router is another topic.
The problem may not be the WI-FI but in the router itself. You didn't mention the strength of the connection when you are able to connect. It's also possible that the channel the router is on has interference and changing the channel will provide a more reliable signal.
Actually, VISTA ultimate comes with proper license keys for certain series of laptops only. And i'm sure the DVD which you have is for only "Dell Precission M90 Notebook"... so please do not try same DVD on another laptops... use recommended DVD or operating systems only
You're not overlooking anything, with some Dell machines, neither the wireless nor the ethernet drivers are installed with a system reload, and it's expected of you to get the drivers on line. So, you will have to burn the drivers to disc from another machine in order to down load them. You can also use an external hard drive or flash drive, if you have these available to you. Keep in mind that some flash drives aren't big enough, depending on the size of the download.
