Powers on for 5 seconds then shuts off

As the title says. Where the cord comes in from the outlet it then goes to a fuse, if you follow the white line on the circuit board it goes to a little transformer, right after that is a little black box type connection (I'm not sure if it's a relay or a breaker but it looks like it can come out by pushing in the tabs, and there's a second one down the board a ways). Anyway, as I push the power button this black box clicks like it's turning on. After about 5 seconds (with nothing else coming on) it clicks again then everything is dead. Could this be the reason the TV won't work? Is this something I can replace from a part at Radio Shack?? Any help with this would be great!. :)

Thanks

Jeremy

Have the same exact problem, I'm wondering if what you mentioned will have to soldered in or not? I havn't looked at it yet, but this is def. what is happening with mine.

Same problem here.  Is there a definite fix?  Does someone have step by step instructions or diagrams for the replacement of the broken components?

  • bouchard_24 Mar 02, 2008

I had the same problem and now the TV will not even power on. I had a TV Tech come by the house and he said he had to pull out one of the circuit boards and replace a fuse on the board behind it. Approximately $500.00 for the repair. Is my problem the same as Jeremy's? If not what might it be? In either case I am a Signal Network Tech in the Army and could replace the parts myself, I am just usure of what to order and where to order them from. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bill, I tried replaceing the STK392-110's and still having the 3 flashes and no responce from the TV, although I hear relays clicking. Is there a posibility that it's the R800 Relay or do you sussecpt something else? Thanks in advance.

Jeremy,
Those are your primary and secondary relays and they are probably not your problem!! In RARE cases R800 will fail causing RI802 to fail (your secondary relay) but I emphasize in RARE cases. The reason they click and then click again is that the shutdown circuit commonly requires them due to some short in a circuit up-line from the B+ and usually I would first suspect the convergence amps.
Your set takes two STK392-110 Sanyo original Ic's and if you have these replaced I think that will solve your problem.. They're located at Ic7001 and Ic7002 on the signal board, screw mounted to a large aluminum heat sink. On replacing them also check all 2.2 ohm 1w feed resistors out front of them and replace any that may have changed in value...

When I turn on my Sony TV, ti stays on about 30 seconds then shuts off, What do you think is wrong?

Do a Power Reset.
1. Turn off TV.
2. Unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. (If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.)
5. Turn on the TV.
If issue persists after doing the steps, reset the TV to factory default settings.
1. Turn on the TV.
2. Using the supplied remote, press and hold the UP arrow button.
3. While holding the UP arrow button press the POWER button on the TV itself.
4. When the TV goes off, release the POWER and UP arrow button.
5. The TV will turn on by itself and the initial setup screen will be displayed. Just follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup.

ACER ASPIRE ONE 722 WILL POWER UP FOR 5 SECONDS THEN GOES DEAD

If it's not plugged in then it sounds like the battery is dead. If it is plugged in then your power cord/charger is probably dead.

My reciever went to protect mode after my speaker wires touched. I removed all cables and power for an hour but stays in protect mode. I also changed 2 15 amp fuses inside but nothing unless I take fuses...

Yes, you can do this easily.
Perform the following steps
(1)Plug your amp to AC outlet.
(2)Switch it on.
(3)observe time taken for switching off.
(4)immediate to shut down over current protect(5)3 seconds to shut down DC protect.
If over-current protect do the
following steps
(O)unplug the amp.
(1)download NR806 service manual.
(2)open the amp metal cover.
(3)measure 7 large white resistors resistance loacated next to power transistors mounted on a large heat sink with black probe touching the middle pin and red probe to first/left or third/right pin.
(4)If this 3 Pins large white colour 0.22ohm x 2 resistor is open with infinity ohms ,
(5)replace it and jot down this channel for example left surround faulty. Usually only 1 channel went faulty.
(6)the two large power transistors next to this white resistor 0.22 ohms x2 should also be replaced.
(7)plug the amp
(8)switch it on
(9)if ok, troubleshooting get done
(10)if not ok
(11)replace ALL the components of this power amp channel.
(12)pre-amp section no need to check.

I have a trutech undercounter mount DVD/TV combo. It was working fine, and all of a sudden it turned off and will not come back on. We checked the outlet and it is fine.

Unplug the power cord from wall outlet and take the unit apart follow the power cord inside the unit it goes to the fuse. Check the fuse most of the time the fuse is bad.

Hello mdonettaYou said,
Dryer shut off towels were not yet dry, turned dial to restart dryer acts as if it isn't getting power I closed door and pushed start button. Nothing! Checked breakers and power cord at outlet all checked okay. Any ideas.

yes, try unplugging the power cord or turning off the breaker for 5 minutes. Either will due. Some times the system needs to be reset!
If this does not work there are internal fuses that can be replaced!

Let me know how it goes!
