Machine is 2 yrs old. Been working fine, even on refilled cartridges. But in the past few months, been getting streaks on black ink output. Innumerable clean print head and alignment tests run - these never show up the problem. And it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I can print 1st page just fine but the 2nd page comes out with streaky black, only in the bottom portion of the page. The problem is always in the bottom portion of the page. If printing in colour, there is no problem at all - only in solid black printing.
Bought some PowerKlin - they told me to put it on the contacts of the ink cartridge - now I am getting NO BLACK INK WHATSOEVER. Changed black ink cartridges - no change. Still OK to print in colour.
Any ideas? I really like this printer and really really do not want to have to buy a new one.
Also, PowerKlin says it will clean blocked printheads but where is the blasted printhead on the 3310?
I heard you can get the 3310 to do a pump up the tubes cycle but i don't know how to make it do it. Pressing the ok and cancel buttons when you power up didn't work for my machine. Which has too died a inkless black death!
Press the buttons OK + cancel, you have to go two pages that will print "Extended Self Test Diagnosis," send me the information in "Revision Information" and I say what you need to do!!!
After much research on major Internet sites that refer to the domain of mutual forums on printers, I found that The problem of black ink that does not leave more, without any error messages, occurs only on models where it is mentioned at one time or another on the website of HP-Support, that the problem of "wrong colors" can be caused by use of the Reserve Mode Printing. "If the print defect is minor, it might be caused by reserve mode operation. When the All-in-One runs out of some colors, it continues printing using the remaining inks, but print quality might be affected."
Reserve Mode Printing... That does not exist !!??

The other printer models using the same ink cartridges who never had the same problem exactly, HP Photosmart D71xx, 82xx, C72xx, it is never mentioned that a problem may come from the use of the Reserve Mode Printing.

Most Newer printers are made so that they only except Genuine Ink cartdridges so they can make more money off you, using anything else often voids warranty. try using a paper towel dabbed in warm water and cleaning the contacts on the ink and the cradle that holds it. Also, if its getting ink on the pages, the rollers may have ink stains on them, you will need to clena them or buy a maintinance kit from the manufacturer.

My 3310 quit printing black. It was a couple of months out of warranty. HP upgraded me to a factory remanufactured c6180 for a mere $200. Last night, after having it five weeks, it ran out of black ink. When I replaced the black cartridge it will not print black. I have used refilled cartridges in both printers at times. I don't know if this could be a factor. Ed in Illinois.
Hi, I am having the same problem - did you find a resolution?
My HP Photosmart has stopped printing in black although ink cartridge is almost full. It would seem that the black inkcontact/jet is blocked or clogged. What is the best product to use to clean or what might be the best solution to this problem.
My HP6150 Photosmart will not print black ink. I have bought several new cartridges and it will not work. One person told me to uninstall the printer drivers and then re-install them. It worked for a little while afterwards but now it doesn't work again.
