Does not switch to Ext Input

I have purchased the KS-U57 adapter to play my mp3 player through my speakers but I was never able to switch it to an aux input.

-I made sure to insert a cd first
-I made sure the mp3 player was connected and playing audio then tried a seperate mp3 player and repeated process
-I pressed the cd/cd-ch button repeatedly
-replaced my stereo adapter and aux cable

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

Hi,

You need to enable the "Line In" option on your stereo. Press "SEL" for a couple of seconds to enter to special menu, change the input from sirius to Line In. Check the manual on how to do this. Once Line in is selected you press CD/CD-CH and it should change to Line In, Line in is then displayed on the screen.

Does using an ipod/AUX adapter through the CD changer input stop a real CD from working?

you have to change it from the Aux setting to CD when you want to play cd, some cd players switch to aux. automatically when you plug inthe aux. cable. and may have to be unplugged when playing cd.

Hi there,
1. Press and hold SEL till the preferred setting mode (PSM) comes up. 2. Scroll through the modes till you see EXT IN (You may need to set CD as the Source to see this.) 3. Adjust the value by moving the knob around the SEL button. 4. You should now see LINE IN.
Good Luck

How do I play my Zune hd through my car speakers, my head unit is a Kenwood excelon KDC-X692

If your Kenwood has an AUX input then you can connect a audio cable from the headphone connector on the Zune to the the AUX input on the Kenwood. Power up the Zune ans set it to music and switch the Kenwood to AUX.

Diagram for adaptor ks-u57

There's nothing to it--look 'inside' the connector and you'll see three metal contacts close the metal connector (somewhat similar design as a USB jack). The center is common for the line out, and the left/right are the positive for the left and right channels. The metal connector itself is not part of the circuit.
So if you were connecting RCA jacks to it, the outer ('negative') of both RCAs connects to the center contact on the KS-U57, and the center ('positive,' or 'signal') of the left and right RCAs go to the contacts bracketing the center.
KS-U58 and KS-U57 are wired the same.

KS-U58 JVC Input Adapter Cable

Just installed a 'generic' KS-U57 (same as the KS-U58, but terminates in a RCA, $7 on ebay) that has the same black box--except I cracked the black box open and found that it is empty (only contains soldered connections). I imagine that the authentic JVC is the same.
I have a noise problem (engine static), but it is because my mp3 player is charged by the cigarette lighter--unplugging it eliminates the noise, so as far as I can tell, there is no need for a noise filter inside the KS-U57.

Can I plug my MP3 player into the aux. socket on my car radio, with the appropriate cable and play the stored music?

You should be able to do that as long as you have the right cable.

Most of the mp3 players have a "mini-stereo" jack (3.5mm) and some car stereos have the same type of jack for "aux" input, and others car stereos have RCA jacks for the "aux" input.

Even if the jacks are not the same type, you can use an adapter cable that converts the mini-stereo jack to an RCA jack. You can find them at many places like Best Buy, Circuit City or Radio Shack.

Depending on the type of car stereo you have, you would normally press the source button to change between the tuner, cd player, aux or whatever you may have connected to the stereo. You may even have a seperate button to press for the "aux" input.

I hope this was helpful to you, if you need more information just ask, and please give more info on the type of mp3 player and the make and model number of the car stereo.

you have to switch your decks source to AUX and it should work fine. If not you may have a bum player with a bad input.

Using an external mp3 player on my JVC KD-LX111

You could try using an FM transmitter which plugs into the earphone jack on your Mp3 player, then all you have to do is tune the radio to pick up the transmitters frequency.
