I want to transfer files from my Sony dcr pc101E. Sony tell me that they no longer support the former pixella software. What software would you recommend for this machine and where can I get it?

If you are qualified to open the Camcorder then you can follow what I am going to say. The most important thing is to have the right precision screwdrivers so that you can open the side of the camera that has the LCD screen. The problem with it most likely to be the socket that goes to the LCD screen inside the camcorder that is no longer connecting properly so that you have to put it back an seal it with some reinforcing tape. if you are not sure on how to do this please tell me so that I can send you instructions and the pictures to show you how it's done.

NOTE: The procedure to transfer video to a computer will vary depending on the type of camcorder you have and the type of connection you are using.

the usb driver and pixela application is not compatible with windows vista. usb streaming is not supported by windows vista and 7 OS. however it would still be possible to transfer videos from your dv camcorder using the dv interface (ieee1394 or ilink) connection. you would need to have an ilink (ieee1394) card installed in your computer. you can check by going to device manager window. if you don't, try checking with your PC manufacturer recommendations for an ieee1394 chipset or card.if you do, all you need is an ilink cable (btw, the cam uses 4pin jack).get the correct cable for use with the PC and camcorder, and use windows moviemaker for your video capturing software.hope this helps.thanks :)

I'm afraid Vista 64 bit has no support for DCR-PC101E yet.

Please download Sony USB Driver from Sony Support so your computer will recognize your camera DCR-PC101E.
