there are many models most common one has a bolt located at the bottom of the inside of the agitator remove cap to see it you will need several extensions,10mm socket and ratchet
if it is a top loader machine with an agitator that stands up in the center of the tub, try removing the dispenser and lint trap from the center ( normally just a pull up) and right down the bottom there is a 10 or 12 mm bolt that you undo and that allows you to pull the agitator up off the drive shaft
talk with a service agent as to how to get the agitator out or down load a workshop manual from google by typing in --workshop manual for hoover model 201m washing machine -- and if there is a pdf version then down load it
You will have to hold the shaft underneath while you turn it, most likely it came a bit loose, but is rusted holding to he shaft, but no longer to the agitator.
If the main shaft were broken, the entire agitator assembly would come out. Usually, there is a plastic adapter that goes from the shaft to the interior of the agitator and is splined to mate with the shaft. A bolt commonly holds the two together, but usually has an uncommon drive head. There may be a removable plastic cap that either unscrews or just pulls off. Hope this helps!
take the cap of the top of the agitator you need a 10mm socket
on along extension bar undo the bolt in the bottom of the agitator and it will lift out replace by do-ing the reverse process
i have just done it better than paying $100.00 for a service call
for five minutes work
Remove the fabric softener by pulling and pushing to one side. Once removed, there will be a half inch bolt that holds the agitator to the transmission shaft. Loosen the bolt and the agitator will lift off. Older Hoovers have a set screw near the middle of the agitator.
Hello, if your clothing are sorted imbalanced you will have that problem. Ensure they are evenly distributed.
If that doesnt solve the problem, there is a bolt that is broken on the agitator shaft. Lift out the top cap from the agitator, take out the plastic seal beneath, remove the bolt, lift agitator out.
There are two horizontal bolts holding the inner-drum to the shaft. replace both.Be sure to tighten all the way.
