Dishes in upper tray coming out not so clean!

Dishes in upper tray coming out "not so clean".

Disconnected Upper Arm mechanism and Lower Wash Arm mechanism and checked all the tubes to make sure they are free of any debris and they are. Ran dishwasher with a Thermocouple Probe attached inside and the temperature measured 140° F during the "Normal Wash Cycle" so I was good there, and the water pressure measured 60 psig. Ran again and the same result, the dishes on the bottom tray seem to come out clean but the top tray still has a dirty dish result. I positioned the the Top Tray spray agitator and while the dishwasher was running I would open the door and see if it moved. If I did this real fast the agitator or spray arm would not move, but, when I let the dishwasher run for maybe 10 to 15 seconds and opened the door it would show that it did in fact move so I figured it needed a brief period for the water to get up to this device.

Appreciate any suggestions!

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Dishes on top shelf not getting clean

Check your upper wash arm.... check the holes, especially the ones at the end of the arm. Are they possibly clogged with debris or hard water? This is the usual cause of dishes on the top rack not getting clean. The holes at the end of the wash arm are angled to eject the water at an angle to use the reaction to push the wash arm around. If those holes are clogged, then the arm won't rotate, and only those few dishes or glasses right under the arm will get clean, and the remaining 80% of the dishes on the upper rack won't get clean!

Water fills the bottom of dishwasher, lower spray arm still seems to turn/spray but no movement or water coming out of uppoer spray arm. We took apart the lines to see if there was blockage -- none.

If there is no blockage, your pump may need to be rebuilt or replaced. If your machine uses a solenoid valve to control weather the pump is washing or draining. The drain valve may be stuck somewhat open, diverting wash water down the drain. Or the wash valve may be not opening fully. Different machines work in different ways.

Maytag jetclean dependable quiet plus doesn't clean dishes

It sounds like you have a faulty float switch. It's cutting off the water inlet before the tub is full.

Kenmore 3380957 rev a won't get dishes clean

Make sure that that upper arm is free to turn. Check it while you have dished installed, because sometimes, dishes on the lower rack may stick up too high and hit it. Otherwise, check the back of the water-supply tube attached to that upper rack.... Is it lining up with the water feed port or hole at the backof the dishwasher? Is there a gasket that is either ripped or missing? And check that wash arm carefully.... Might it be split or bent? Are the holes on the bottom clear? (Those holes are usually angled to push the arm around; if they are clogged, the arm won't rotate.)

We have an Asko D3350 Dishwasher and the upper blade does not appear to be spinning and the dishes are not coming clean. Bottom appears to be working fine and dishes on bottom are clean. What could be the...

On my d3350 it is possible to choose which tray (bottom, top or both) is cleaning.

The button is the bottom left, and above it there are two lights. As you push this button, the lghts cycle through lower tray, upper tray and the both trays. You want both lights on.

Also try this - take the spray arm out (it just snaps free) and rinse it out in case there are some blocking materials in the arm which are stopping it from spraying

Upper tray dishes are not cleaned(washed) the bottom are OK, why?

replace the washer water from bottom of the unit up to the top arm water feed assy, they get worn and water leaks by the hub arm that pressurizes the upper wash arm, this is also true on the center arm if the washer has one

Top rack does not wash dishes.

Possible causes of spray arm inefficiency:
Loading large or tall items in the lower basket which stops the arm revolving.
Upper spray arm split along seam.
Upper spray arm blocked.
Under dosing of powder causing foam and reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
Blocked strainers reducing water to circulating pump, therefore reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
inefficient wash motor impellor (faulty)

Upper rack is not cleaning. Greasy dishes on top seem that dishes are not being washed. Seems the upper water turning dispenser is not working, Bottom rack seems ok. I guess I only have half a dish washer...

Check the upper arm for free spinning, then remove the arm and check that the seam between the upper and lower halves has not split somewhere. Also check all the small holes for debris plugging. Run the machine in wash cycle for a little while with the upper arm off--that should flush out anything blocking the pipe up to the arm. If still nothing from the upper arm, tear down the lower arm assembly down to the deck while noting position of all parts removed. Clean the big screen at the bottom in white vinegar and hot water. Inspect the holes in the bottom for anything blocking them.

Washer arm not working

If your dishes are getting clean, then your problem is a "feture" not a failure. The LG LDS5811 has a Verio motor/check valve that switches between cleaning the upper dishes and then the lower. Depending on when you open the door, one arm will not be spinning.
All the presure is routed either to the lower or upper arm, so it really does help - especially with a water conserving model like the 5811.
Good Luck!

Upper rack dishes not coming clean.

You could try running it with the upper arm removed, just so you could be sure that the pressure is not getting to that point - unless you are absolutely sure the upper arm holes/channels are all clear then descale it overnight with some vinegar - just might clear something. if there is obviously only a little flow of water then perhaps you could try getting vinegar into the supply pipe using a basting bulb/syringe or similar - again leave overnight and you may get lucky. The next thing would be to take the machine apart so you could follow this hose through to the pump - undo it from the pump and blow through it or see if you can get a piece of wire in it from the pump end. try vinegar again. check the pump outlet for blockage. Hope this helps :)
