Check to see if there are any scratches on the disc. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error” or something to that effect. With some scratched discs, the data cannot be read and the game console may not even recognize the discs at all, giving you error messages etc. Best remedy for starters, is to try clean the discs and make sure there are no smudges or dirt marks left on the play-side of the discs. If there are any scratches on the discs, they will need repairing.

Most Game Discs, DVD’s and CD’s can be fixed quite easily back to “As Good As New Condition”. Some home remedies or cheap repair kits may help with some light marks or very light scratches on some discs, but a professional disc repair service is usually required to repair any discs with anything more than very light scratches.

For further help on disc repairs, visit:

www.discREPAIR.ie Get Scratched Discs Repaired Back to "As Good As New Condition".

Check the “More Info” & “FAQ” Sections for further details on game disc repairs and related matters.

If you tried some home remedies and they have not worked, try sending the disc off for repair. Contact the site above for advice on repair and shipping.

Hope this Helps!!!

Hi rico617,

There could be a couple of causes, and there could be a couple of solutions. The solutions may not be too fun though.

First possible problem:

1. Your discs could be scratched. If that's the case, clean them off as best you can with a soft cloth and all that. If that's not the case......

2. It could be that your disc drive is messed up.

If 1. didn't solve your problem, than here are some possible solutions regarding 2.

1. Your lens could be dirty, in which case you can try a lens cleaner (probably not the problem)

2. For many with this problem, formatting their hard drive (yes their hard drive, not disc tray) solves the problem. Unfortunately that's a major bummer because you'll lose everything on the drive.

3. If you're brave enough to go through the second one and it still doesn't solve it, you're going to have to send it in for repairs cause it looks like the disc tray is having incompatibility issues with your games (yeah I know it's dumb)

Best of luck man :)

When my sons try to play a game, the screen stays on the main menu. Its like the system is not recognizing that a disc has been entered. This has happened before, we did factory reset as well as upd

The fact of the matter is, your system is not reading the game disks. The option to use a cleaner is always the best way to trouble shoot. After you use one, try a different kind of disk, like a DVD and see if it plays. If not, then your BlueRay drive is bad, and I would suggest sending it in for repairs.

My xbox 360 will not read the disks i put into it. it is like it isn't reading that there is a disk in in the tray. it says open tray then close tray over and over again. it wont spin the disk to read it.

Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc. Clean your disc Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.

· Note Use ONLY water to clean the disc.

· Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your console and see if the disc plays.

My ps2 wont read any game encrypted on a blue dvd disc not evn a movie........it plays it so slow even if the cd is scratch less......

When this happens, it's due to a failing laser. As the laser starts to fail, the system will stop reading blue discs first, then dvds, then cds. You can find a new laser at the following website:

Disk reading error

Hi,

this is a possible laser read problem.
Try an official DVD Movie. And also a music CD.
if it reads nothing at all, i,d suggest a laser head cleaner.
Or a replacement DVD Drive.

Ps3 will not read disc

Hi,
this could be several issues.
1:) try putting in A DVD Or CD.
2:) Check that the game your trying to read, is free from Dirt/Dust/Scratches.
If the console reads a CD/DVD ( movie et,c ) theres a chance that the Blu-Ray laser unit has failed ( Burnt-Out Or Other )
Check if the Console guide suggests the use of a laser Head Cleaning Disk ( Or Other ) ** Possible debris on laser read head**
If it reads normal CD/DVDs. Then I,d suspect the blu-ray laser is at fault. This will need to be replaced/repaired or calibrated.
