Water comes from I don't know where and run down the front of the Ice storage bin. We are unable to figure out where the water is coming from to stop the problem. The Ice builds up there and causes a problem opening the door. What can we do?

Is the refrigerator and the ice maker level? Does it appear that the ice maker is over filling or slowly overflowing due to a leak in the Click here=> W10408179 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve? Look in the rear of the ice maker where the water fill tube enters the ice maker do you see water freezing and running down to the ice bin from there? Let me know. http://appliance911seabreeze.com/
OK is the bin full of ice to where the ice stops making ? and is the water running over into the ice bin. If this is whats happening then cut the machine off, If water is still coming into sump tray then pull the water inlet valve and replace it. If the water stops when you shut the machine off then check the water float or sensor since i don't know what model you have, If float then replace it , if probe sensor then replace it. Now if there is no water running over into ice bin during freeze cycle then nothing is wrong ice machines use a lot of water every time it go's into a harvest it dumps the water in the sump tray.
Hello, The reason that is happening,is the water inlet valve is not fully closing and seeping water through it,it drips into the ice storage bin and freezes the ice into one huge block. To fix that the water inlet valve needs to be replaced.Their are 2 valves on that refrig. and the one that is causing the problem is the one with dual outlets its part # 218658000 It can be purchased at your local appliance parts store on online at searspartsdirect.com repairclinic.com apwagner.com apdepot.com midwestapplianceparts.com
GE has a problem with the flap on the door which lets the ice out , not closing due to a rusted solenoid behind the panel . If this flap does not close , frost will get inside the ice bin , not letting the bin flap open to let cubed use come thru, only crushed . You can defrost the ice bin front and replace the door flap solenoid easily . If this is the problem , repost about replaceing the flap solenoid for further instructions if needed .
check the bottom of the bin for a drain spout. The drain line may be clogged allowing the water to build-up in the bottom.
If the water is coming down from the ice machine itself, you will need to open up the machine and look inside. Check to ensure the cube guides have not come out of place, that the sump is not overflowing with water, and that there are no loose, leaking, disconnected, or busted hoses.
Melt the sheet of ice with hot water or a hair dryer (be careful).
thats where the water is coming from. when in defrost the ice melt and rolls on top of that sheet of ice onto the floor. after you melt the ice also melt any ice under the evaporator. get it all!
I have this same problem. Now, the freezer will not get cold enough, but still water runs down into the ice bin and just turns into a big solid block of ice. The water is dripping from the top of the freezer compartment. I have disconnected the water coming to the refrig to not allow it to make ice, but still happening. Please post if you have found a solution? Defroster issues?
Either has electric problem or mechanical. way to tell is plug it up, turn it on turn on water. If its sending in water unplug it and if water stops it is electrical and the ice maker head is causing the problem if it stops the water valve is stuck open and you can disassemble and clean it out sometimes. A slight lime scale can cause this. Hope this helps please rate me accordingly and good luck.
