The felt/cloth seal on the back of the interior of the dryer has come out. It is a large circular "belt/seal". How do i reattach?

Sounds like the felt seal is missing,shifted, or broken.
The felt seal is what keeps the zippers,buttons,etc from catching in the door and causing problems.
If you plan to do the repairs yourself, then make sure you unplug the dryer before starting any repairs.
Remove the electrical box that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt and drum and felt seal.
You can now inspect the seal to see if it is faulty. Replace it if it is needed.
If you remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

I'd be more suspicious of what you're putting through the wash, rather than the machine.

The drum may to be removed to install the new felt gasket but the old drum can then be reinstalled. The felt gasket seals the joint where the drum rotates at the inside back panel. It is likely that the inside back panel can be removed when the dryer is placed front-down and the outside back panel is removed. In that case the drum does not have to come out.

I have the same problem with a Maytag Performa gas dryer. My husband took our dryer apart and found that the burner tube which leads from the burner to the back of the dryer was full of soot (which was getting blown back into the dryer drum with the hot air.) We are cleaning it out now but would like to know how to prevent this from recurring in the future.
