Icemaker stopped making ie

Most of the time is the ice maker itself that is defective. inside ice maker is an small circuit board that freezes up, if you take ice maker out and leave it overnight out to melt any ice inside the board it may work after that.

pull on icemaker fingers to force icemaker , check for ice in tube to icemaker and listen for the valve to open , if all checks ok replace icemaker

slide the panel out from in front of the icemaker,there is a slide switch on the icemaker marked on/off

This is due to the arm that controls the switch on the icemaker itself either being shorted or froozen in the toggled position. Usually the arm would lift as your ice container becomes full and shut the icemaker off until it reached a level where the switch would then toggle to the make ice position and then start makeing ice again. There are three 1/4" screws that hold the icemaker in place remove these screws unplug the icemaker and then use hot water to dethaw your ice maker for about 2-4 minutes after wards dry the icemaker then try reinstalling the icemaker if the problem persists replace the icemaker itself. if you want it to STOP,,,,making ice. there should be a valve on the water supply line to shut off

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . If it dumps , replace the water valve . If doesn't dump , replace the icemaker . Also make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc...

The icemaker should have a bar that is normally in the downward position (ie 4'Oclock) when the bin is not full. The ice falls into the collector and pushes that bar into a horizontal position (ie 3'OClock). These instructions are normally on the ice dispenser section. If the bar is not being pushed up then the icemaker does not know to stop. My only suggestion would be to empty completely the ice maker bin and check that the bar can be pushed from one position to the other. If this happens then try turning on again. The quick answer is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board.
If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker.
You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.
