My lcd is cracked on my LC-46D62U and Found a damaged LC-46D64U that has a perfectly working lcd. Would the lcd from the LC-46D64U be compatible with my LC-46D62U Unit?
Yes it will work. you can take it apart and then get the screen out and put it in.
I'm curious if getting a replacement lcd panel for a 46" TV is not a problem, how difficult is it to replace it yourself. That is remove a cracked one and replace it with a new one.
I bought mine on dec 21st....my screen cracked underneath as well....the color screen or whateber....it was not hit!!! it looks like a triangle crack under the front glass..also from best buy

I had one broken a few months ago. I got a couple quotes.. it was about $200 less then a brand new one. I'd just buy a new one.
For the new TV I'd pickup a screen protector for it. My son threw a toy at my TV the other day and I nearly had a heart attack from the flashbacks. Thank God I picked up one of these a few weeks earlier. It stopped it. LCD screens really break easily as you know. http://www.tv-armor.com

Bad news is a replacement LCd will cost 80% of the original cost of the entire TV. Unless you can pick up a non-working LCD tv with a good screen and the same model number on Ebay your kinda out of luck.

I have the same problem.....i just got the tv. on Dec. 24, 2007....last 3 weeks.....my oldes son was playing X-box....and then suddenly..he just heard cracked...so my fiance called Best Buy and explained what happened...Best Buy told us to call sharp....while my fiance...explaining it to sharp people what happened.....they said they will send somebody to our house and check...they did came...they said somebody hit the screen...my fiance and i told that my oldest son was playing and he heard it cracked...my fiance and i...was with my son when he was playing...and my son wont do that...his 20 yrs. old...so they send the t.v. back to us...they can't fix and our warranty doesn't cover it....they can fix it...but its gonna coast us a lot...why should we pay...we just got the t.v....and is not our fault....i wanna file a smalll claims...you the sharp can't fix our t.v....w/out paying....please help me....Frances 562-381-4697...thanks
