Re: I can't see the dvds into any dvd player

Most DVD players can't play DVD-R or DVD-RW unless it's finalized (if you record to DVD+RW, it may work ok, but fewer DVD players work right with RW format discs).

Obviously, you need to ensure you are actually writing to the DVD (eg, will they play back on the camcorder). You should see if there's a menu for finalizing the DVDs, that might do it. There are occasionally problems with finalizing discs on some of these DVD camcorders... these discs may not be readable on any DVD player, but might still work in a PC.

The other problem is that some camcoders record in DVD-VR format, which is a special "easily edited" format for DVD camcorders only... regular DVD players don't usually support this (well, some new ones might... this is one of those "evolving standard" issues). You'll probably need a PC to read the disc, edit, convert to a conventional DVD, etc. if you're using this format.

How do i transfer my videos from my canon dc330 into my comuter

Hey! As far as I know, Canon DC330 camcorders records high-quality MPEG-2 footage directly to a mini DVD-R or DVD-RAM. So you can watch it with your DVD-RAM drive onyour PC, or you can convert the recorded dvds into videos and play it with players such as Windows Media Player.
I'd like to share you DVD Converter Software which can help you convert dvd to common video and convert between videos. Hope that helps.

Mini-DVD playback here is the manual look on page 62 for playback on a pc. you need a dvdrom drive. if you have one make sure you have software like windows media player 10 or 11, or powerdvd to play the movie. as for editing the video is a little bit more tricky. you are going to have to "rip" the video and then combine it in a program like windows movie maker with the other dvd that has been ripped too. when you are done editing in windows movie maker just choose avi or dvd type.

How to get tape onto computer

Buy a DVD burner at your local electronics store. Not the kind for your computer, but the one that looks like a DVD player that will connect to your TV. It will cost you less than $100.

Connect it to your TV like you would a DVD player. Connect the output of your video camera into the DVD burner "input". Play back the video camera tape while recording on the DVD burner.

Now you will have your home movies on DVD. You can then import them into iTunes or use a program to "rip" DVD to mp3 or mp4 and put them on your PC. Don't forget to make a copy of the DVDs and put them some place safe in case your house burns down.

Some computers will not play mini dvds. You will need to check with the computer manufacture to be sure.

Watching a dvd on a regular dvd player

Once you have "Finalised" your mini disk in your camera try playing it in your PC drive - it should work. The ability to play on a regular size DVD player depends on how modern your player is. Not all players accept DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD +-RW formats. Good luck.

Burning video from Sony Handycam DCR-DVD105?

i dont think that you can keep the menus from each mini dvd. but you can create your own dvd video with menu and at the same time you can merge all of your mini dvds. After you upload the mini dvd videos to your computer then use Nero 8 or 9 Software. On Nero look for dvd editable and browse your dvd videos then do as the instructions says to you. you should burn that with one DVD disc with menus of your own choice

Changing a -vr format

You're right - only DVDs initialised in VR mode can be edited on the camcorder. Those initialised in VIDEO mode cannot be edited on the camcorder, but can be played on most DVD players and can be edited on a PC.

The good news is, if you are using a DVD-RW disc you can change the mode by reinitialising it to be in VIDEO mode, but you will lose all the previous content during initialisation. DVD-R discs cannot be initialised.

See this Fixya solution for details on how to initialise a disc.

To Junie1939 - No, it's not possible to change a DVD from 'plus' format to 'minus' format, sorry - you have to go buy 'minus' format DVDs, or change the DVD reader on your PC. Remember the Canon DC210 only takes 'minus' format DVDs.

Don't forget to rate this solution once you've tried it !

Good Luck.
