My canon 500d wont turn on. the batteries are newly charged

check for possible corrosion on the battery contact, then power on key for sticky, use CRC spry to clean.

Charge battery or try another battery. The camera says busy when the flash is charging. If that doesn't solve the problem then you may have a bad flash board, capacitor, etc. If it says busy all the time, that is an indication of a main circuit failure. although you mostly see this on the XS.

If it's not too cold or too hot, then probably you camera needs to be repaired.

The manual may have some added info in the troubleshoting section, just take a look.

No. The 600D uses the LP-E8. This is the same battery as used by the 550D, but not the 500D.

If I were you, I'd bring it to a service center, or return it immediately to where you bought it because if you pro long the period that you have it they may not allow you to return it. If its under warranty then get that just don't touch it anymore.

Your camera is in warranty send to Canon service.

The other bloke doesn't know what he is talking about..this is plainly obvious.

Looks like the CR2016 is inside the battery compartment under a small cut-out plastic piece (on same side as hinge). Use a torch and you can see it under this plastic piece.

You either need to dissemble it to get access or break off this plastic cover to replace...or take it to canon.

try going to canon.com and download the firmware update for your camer, it will work fine after that
