Ibm thinkpad 380xd dos serial port problem

I can use my serial port when in windows 98se, but it does not work for
dos 6.22.

is there a special driver I need, I had to format the drive and start over
recently.

I have a common 9 pin serial.
i have a programming cable for programming 2-way
radios, I can do a com test in dos, nothing.
I can boot up to win98se and it works, the problem is
only some of the radios work in win98se, I need to use
dos for most of them.
I did format the drive, so I thot there might be a specific
driver for Dos., I tried updating the Bios, got files from lenovo,
it said "no update needed", would not let me try.

Is it a plain 9pin serial port?

You should have no problems there, if you are using a USB, you DO have issues.

Sound card on IBM R50 THINKPAD

Your sound card is "SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio".The chipset manufacturer name is "SoundMax".It's very hard to define what sound comes with any Notebook if the driver is not installed.We too search the Internet according to the Notebook company,model,series etc.

for registry error i don't think its required for replace the hard disk ... boot the laptop through win98 boot able cd and delete the all partition using fdisk command and try to install the os .............

USB doesn't work

do have the driver for the IBM? then use it. if you don't, then what about serial port or RS232. get a converter that is serial to usb converter with the driver will allow you to use your usb through serial port.

Can i connect my ibm 380xd to ethernet?

the system is too old to be upgraded that much. however if there is a spot on the bottom for a wireless card to be install you might be able to do it but i think its too old for it

What Is The Max RAM Limit for a IBM ThinkPad 380XD?

From reviewing the manufacturers manual for that unit, I would have to agree that the maximum possible expansion memory you can install is 96mb. Here is the link to their users guide (pdf).

There you have it. Although unless you are able to find that specification of memory for cheap online, I would say it's not really worth it to invest in older ram with such slow bus speeds unless you definitely need it. Hope that helps.

You don't say what OS you run, but have you tried reinstalling your audio files? This will probably fix your problem.
