Dell Latitude C510 Notebook Logo

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on my Dell Latitude C510 Laptop and now my wireless direct access button does not work. I also cannot see any wireless connection on this laptop. It was working before I reinstalled. I have a Texas Instrument PCI-1420 CardBus Controller listed in my device manager.

I believe you are giving instructions for Windows Vista and I have Windows XP Pro.

I solved this problem by buying a mini pci card and installing it.

Hopefully this helps

Try the following: click start, RIGHT click on My PC, click on administration, select services and applications, select Start wireless configuration service, click start service. Close the window
Open configuration of wirless network, flag the option let windows configure my wirelss network
That should let you see and select your wireless device

I have to do this everytime I start my laptop. I would like to have the system make this automatically, but I don't know how.

U can download the appropriate driver for your network card and install it...the previous driver was removed when u reinstalled the OS and that's causing the hardware not to function correctly

Bought this C510 at a yard sale. No user or admin password available. Windows xp comes up but wants me to login as user, tried administrator and its password protected as well. System will not let me...

You can use external CD drive to reinstall windows, or use Superutilities CD to change the passwords. Also you can take the HDD out and attach it to a desktop PC to ghost an image on it.
You can too replace the internal CD drive with a working one.

Hi,

Look at the bottom of your Dell laptop and you will find a "service tag number". Then go to dells site and chose the support tab and then enter this service number and then a list of all new updated drivers for all the items in your laptop will show up and usually at the bottom is the "wireless driver". Download this and then install it and your wireless card should be good to go then. Also check you network connections tab in the control panel and make sure you do not have the wireless card disabled for some reason. Enable it if it shows disabled.

My themes and backgrounds in yahoo mail and Shutterfly website wont work anymore.I have a Dell Latitude D610 laptop with Windows XP Pro Did something get uninstalled? Any help appreciated!

I don't have software loss like yours, but do have a c610. I had the Bios tell me a module is problematic, however they were all removed, You can flash a BIOS update off their support site. If HDD software gets corrupted, you really need a safe haven to reinstall from, partitioned, or off the drive via external device or disc

Dell Latitude xp pro product but I lost the cd.

Yes you can.
After installation you will need to activate it. If it wont activate online, then there is telephone activation option - always works.
