Panasonic PT-50DL54J DLP. power light flashes red 4 times then pauses and flashes 4 times again...repeat. TV purchased in 2004 and has had no service as it's worked flawlessly. What's up?

The lamp is not dead and the TV is still working - and it's now 6 yrs old and using the original lamp. It has always been protected with a Monster power supply which had to be replaced after 5 years. But, when the TV stops working and the power light blinks red, we power down the TV, the power strip and wait 5 minutes. Then we power it all back up and it works again. I did notice that the TV was a bit warm so we now regularly vacuum the TV vents.

I have the same exact problem. I opened the back panel and used compressed air to blow out all the dust inside. Be careful not to blow into the fan on the right as that will get the dust inside the lamp module. Use a vacuum hose to clean out the dust from all around. This helps a bit. The unit will only turn off after a few hours of use rather than every 5 10 minutes.
I am surprised you still have the original lamp. It is only rated for 10,000 hours.

I have similar problems. I removed the back panel and use compressed air to blow out all the dust from all the components. Just remember not to blow into the main fan on the right as that is the one cooling the lamp. I don't know for sure if this is the only problem.
Dust built up caused heat built up on the components.

MY PANASONIC PT-50DL54J DLP will just turn off. I

I have posted solutions for similar problems.
There may be a heat issue with the power supply components.
Remove the back panel and blow compressed air into all the component area, (except the fan on the right). The power supply is on the left.
Then vacuum all the dust out.

There may be a problem with the battery in the remote. Weaken batteries can cause the remote to send random signals (including turning off the set).

Panasonic PT-50DL54J DLP TV Flashing Light

I had the same problems that most of you have been having, tv turning on and off, lights flashing in all different colors, having to unplug tv to reset and all of that good stuff. I noticed that most of the time this would happen once the tv would start to heat up, and I could hear the fan working a little harder. Well I am not an electrician but It was very simple to unscrew the lower bottom park of the tv, where the fan and most of the electronics sit, then I used an oxygen tank ( I work for a medical company ) to blow out all the dust in the tv, ( you can olso use the compressed air use for computer, but if grandma or grampa have some O2 laying around, it works really good, LOL. )and was very surpriced to see how dusty it was, then I removed the MAIN FAN ( you only need to remove three screws, however there's a box in fron of it, which you'll have to remove first in order to get to the fan ). this may sound a little complicated, but trust me it is not, once you have taken the fan off, clean it all the way around ( best to use a clean rag, the compressed air was not doing the job.
long story short, once I cleaned the fan and put it all back together. The TV still didn't work LOL, Just kidding, It has been working perfect for a little over a week.
If I can help in any other way, please e-mail me @ [email protected]

hope this helps.

Panasonic PT-51HX43G no power, red light flashes

I have a Panasonic PT53TW53G projection tv that had the same problem for power .A terrific person gave us wonderful advice and it fixed our tv! We were told to replace the IC conversion amplifiers. On our model they are STK392-110 (your's may be different). We ordered the parts from www.electronix.com and they were only $12. for the two parts. We also had to purchase a soldering iron and de-soldering vac for removal/replacement of parts. Good Luck!

The 3 times LED code points to no fan rotation. There are 2 fans. Check the larger fan first, p/n = FBL12G12LS, located near the lamp. Even though that fan may be rotating, it may be slow.
thanks
