The ice maker has a builtin heater in the mold that heats up prior to the ice dumping. If the heater is defective your symtoms sound correct.I would suggest replacing rather than repair

Samsung fridge quit making ice in the upper ice maker, makes a moaning sound several times during the day for a few moments. Lower ice maker is making ice fine and water is dispensing fine also.

Sounds like ice may have frozen (sorry) the mechanism in place and you are hearing gears slowly stripping themselves. Validation is a but difficult, you would have to totally defrost the unit to room temperature, reload and see if it goes away.

I have a Frigidaire FRT21S6A top freezer. the ice maker is dispensing ice cubes, but incredibly slowly. what is causing this and can it be fixed without replacement?

I appreciate your post, friend!

I understand that your icemaker is dispensing ice cubes at a slow pace inside of your Frigidaire refrigerator. You could have a slow ice production due to your water filter or water valve. I would suggest checking to make sure your house supply is fully opened and check to make sure your filter does not need to be replaced. This could also be an issue with your water valve. Since it could be anyone of these underlying issues I would recommend contacting a professional technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will also help you to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. -Matt

Whirlpool Gold side by sideGC3PHEXNS00 not making ice but the water works. Already replaced the filter.

put your finger in the ice mold and see if there is ICE in the mold. if no ice then use a turkey baster and put approx 1/4 cup of water into the ice mold, slowly. in about 2 hrs you should hear ice drop and then refill with water. if there is ice in the mold, you most likely need a new ice maker.

Water despenser

The water dispensing valve may not be functioning, if the valve buzzes or hums when the water dispenser is pressed the valve may be mechanically deficient, if there is no sound whatsoever the switch for the dispenser, the dispensing valve coil or its electrical connections may have failed.

Hot plastic smell

For now I think it would be a good time for the ice maker to be unplugged from the inside wall of freezer. Sounds like the heating element under the ice maker is remaining on. Let me know if its hot under ice maker. Even so this is something we need to find now. Sea Breeze

Our Whirlpool SVF15NRHW01 does not defrost it just ices up

Your refrigerator has a defrost timer and this could be the problem. It appears to be inside the refrigerator. Locate and try to turn the timer slowly clockwise until it clicks and compressor stops. The refrigerator should remain off for 20 to 30 minutes and the freezer heating element should come on. The sound of crackling in freezer indicates ice cracking and beginning to melt. Let me know what happens, Thanks, Sea breeze.

Water not dispensing/flow is not fast

Sound like time for a new filter. When was the last time it was changed? If less than a year or two, it's not the problem. If more, it's likely the filter is clogged reducing the pressure flow of water.

Water running from under front grille of whirlpool side by side

it should be the water line,, Under there is a coupling and also the hoses that run to the water dispenser. Pop off the toe kick and have someone turn on water slowly while you look for thesource of theluek. Good Luck
