Check if directly connecting the computer to the modem works. If it does not try to reset the router and flashing the firmware. If you have a copy of the original firmware you may use that. If it does not work you may have a bad router.

What to do when security light is orange?

Reboot
  • The most basic way to attempt to fix a router problem is to reboot the device. This is accomplished by unplugging the powericon1.png cord, waiting for a minute and then plugging the power connector back in. If the orange light continues to blink, you will have to update its firmware.
Download New Firmware
  • Even though the wireless router is malfunctioning, downloading new firmware is possible by disconnecting the malfunctioning Linksys device from the Internet connection in the wall, then using that jack to plug your machine directly to the Internet. If this is not possible, use another computericon1.png that can connect to the Internet. You can download a firmware update directly from Linksys (see Resources).
Install New Firmware
  • Once you have the firmware update available on the computer affected by the malfunctioning router, open the file and follow the instructions to upgrade the devices firmware.

Hi

If you have an internet connection using the ethernet cable but not on the wireless and there is an orange light blinking.. Try to reset the router by pressing the reset button located on the back or on the location were you can twist the stand for the router. press it for about 10secs and that will return the router on a factory settings. before u reset the router make sure to acces the configuration for the internet settings of your isp provider. if the orange light still there, try to download the latest firmware of your router on linksys site and that should fix the problem

Hey guys could i use my router as a radio to pull the internet signal from a next router without using any cable

With the Linksys router it is not possible. You will need to connect the cable between the two routers. Linksys router will not pick up the wireless signal from the other wireless router.
May be it will work If you upgrade the DD-WRT Firmware. Not sure but it may. consult with the DD-WRT expert before upgrading the firmware.

Seems like this is a problem with this model, try the following: Upgrade the firmware of your router: ► you may find the exact model number and version number underneath the router itself on one of the stickers. If it's a WRT54G v5 upgrade the firmware, make sure the firmware version is 1.00.9 and above. To find the firmware version: ► open up internet explorer ► on the address bar type in the numbers 192.168.1.1 ( username just leave it blank, password as a default is admin) ► go to the status page: look for the firmware version To download the firmware: ► go to www.linksys.com/downloads ► search for your product model number and version the list ► click on downloads for this product ► firmware ► download firmware ► usually the file you download is a zip file so extract the contents 1st To upgrade the firmware: ► go back to the 192.168.1.1 page ► go to administration ► firmware upgrade ► browse for the files you extracted and use the file that ends with a us_code.bin ► and then just upgrade Then reset the router for 30 seconds and voila ur done with the upgrade! here is Linksys' 2nd level T/S phone# 18668705819 If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Any update for l2pt protocol

Hi Milian,

Currently WRT54GX2 does not have support for L2TP connection. You may try to use WRT54GS. It has an option for L2TP connection.

Hope this helps
