Card locked I HAVE A SANYO VPC-S885 TRYING TO THE PICTURES THE CARD SAYS CARD LOCKED. HOW DO I UNLOCK THE CARD.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

How to Unlock SD Card

Many times people do not realize that a SD card can be write protected or locked. They will try to download pictures or make changes to the pictures and the SD card will not allow them to do it. The little lock feature on the side of the card will write protect the SD card so that changes cannot be made. You will need to unlock the SD card to be able to make the changes that you want to make or download anything from it.

To allow the SD card to be accessed is a simple as sliding a small tab on the side of the card to the unlocked position. Usually this means sliding the tab towards the back of the card and away from the front of the card. The card will have to be removed from the camera or PC to be able to do this.

Here is a picture of an SD Card and you can see the tab on the side of the card. It clearly shows you what is the locked and unlocked positions on the card.

This feature can be very useful to make sure that you do not inadvertently erase data or pictures from the card. If you have children viewing pictures on the SD Card make sure to lock it before allowing them to play around to make sure that they do not erase your pictures.

As you can see this is a very good feature to have and it will be very useful to you, but you do need to remember to unlock it before trying to make changes to the card.
My memory card is locked am not given lock number how to remove lock 2gb micro

Look closely at the memory card itself. There should be a tiny picture of a lock indicator on the card and a little tab to click or move to the lock position. There should also be a picture of an unlocked lock to signify which direction you need to move that little tab in order to unlock the memory card. Try sliding it to the unlock position to solve your issue.

When trying to take a picture it says card locked.

The SD card lock/unlock switch has been moved to the lock position. Remove the card and slide the switch (along the edge of the card) to unlock. If it is in unlock, try sliding the switch back and forth a couple of times. Reinsert the card and it should be ready to go.

Sd card not working

Check to make sure you didn't accidentally move the locking switch on the SD card to the locked position. There will be a switch on the side of the card. One side of the switch says locked, (or has picture of a locked lock) and the other side says unlocked, or has a picture of an unlocked lock. Try it out.
