Speed Queen Heavy Duty Washer is trying to spin before draining. Trips overtemp/overcurrent switch in motor, then resets but will not drain first. Seems like too much strain on the motor to spin while full of water. Is this the normal cycle?

Yours is a 2 speed motor. Does it spin in 2 different speeds. If so, then it most likely is designed with only to agitate in 1 speed. If it only spins in one speed, then your motor is defective

if agitates an does not spin means is not going to drain, cause for not spinning broken door switch, look an see if you can feel it hanging or loose, if the swtich is broken it will not go into spin mode at all...........door switch is a safety device!
It sound like you drain hose is siphoning off the rinse water, It needs a standpipe make sure the drain hose is at about the height of the top of the washer, Make sure the drain hose isnt stuck in the drain it also needs an air cap. the drain hose should not lay on the floor to run to the drain
