New Install:

1. Shut off the water.
2. Remove Plastic rough-in spacer. It's black and it's only there for roughing in, and so the tilers don't come too close.
3. Unscrew silver retaining nut - should only be hand tight. Remove and discard grey cap that was being held is place by nut. Remove and discard plastic stopper inside faucet.
4. Take grey plastic disk off of cartridge and DO NOT THROW AWAY. Adjust gearing/splines to hottest temp by rotating plastic insert. Reinstall plastic disk.
5. Install cartridge with HOT lettering to LEFT. Secure with Silver Nut.
6. Slide large O-Ring over silver nut.
7. Install trim plate using long phillips(star) screws provided (2)
8. Slide Plastic spacer (looks like a snowflake) into chrome trim (cylinder) and slide cylinder over Silver Nut.
9. Install handle by tightening allen screw until it engages firmly with cartridge.

Changing Existing Trim:

As Above Except Old Trim Must Be Removed First. Cartridges Are Specific To Certain Trims. Even More So If Installation Is Over 3 Years Old. 3 Years Ago, Delta Went To The "Universal Rough-In" Which Made Things A Little Easier Because The Appropriate Cartidge Now Comes With The Appropriate Trim.

I just installed a series 13/14 single valve tub/shower faucet. When I try to turn on just the tub spout, the shower comes on as well. What could be causing this?

most likely problem is to much pressure in water lines if u have shut off valves on to feed lines turn them down a little will decrease pressure to the valve other problem the spout {tub} diverted is partially engaged, loose, debris or defective if u can reremove the spout and observe the valve for proper function

Shower faucet does not switch to hot.

Hi,

This has happened to me in the past and had exactly the same symptoms but with a different valve. Before trying the below, it may make sense to be 100% sure that hot water is definitely getting to the valve .. can you get access to touch the hot feed pipe to make sure that it is in fact the valve at fault.

The following could be the issue:

1. The shower valve has a bit of dirt or gunk in it and is unable to allow the hot water through. It can happen with a very small amnount of dirt and is a real pain as it requires disassemble of the entire valve assembly.

2. The valve has failed and needs to be replaced - This was the solution to mine and was also significant in terms of effort.

Hope this helps, if so please leave feedback, if not let me know and I'll try and help some more!

1 HANDLE TUB/SHOWER. WHEN YOU TURN THE SHOWER ON

The diverter is worn and needs to be replaced.

The diverter is the lever/button you pull/push to switch from shower to tub. When they get worn, they require more pressure to seal properly and divert the flow.

Delta T13090 faucet shower head working at the same time.

The only possible explaination is that the water is finding it easier to go up than down. Water is lazy, just like me. ;)

Use an allen key to remove the tub spout. It's underneath and awkward. Once the allen key is loose, the spout just slides off. Try running the water. This may solve your problem and all you'll need is a new tub spout. If not.....

Turn the water off to the house.

Use an allen key to remove the handle.

Use a phillips to remove the trim plate (2 screws). Cut the silicone around the trim if it's there (which, in a proper installation it shouldn't be, but...)

Unscrew the nut (usually chrome) holding the cartridge into the brass body of the valve. The cartridge pulls straight out. Check for restriction in the ports of the cartridge itself. Check for restriction in the line going down to the tub spout. If you can't find anything, replace the cartridge.

Reassemble & Enjoy!

Replace delta single handle shower cylinder

Yes, I believe this unit uses a cartridge right? They do fit a little tight due to the small washers on the back side of the cartridge. If this is the one I'm thinking of, there are two leg like appendenges that come off the back and fit into small holes at the back of the manifold or what some call mixing valve housing.

Tub faucet

You will need to turn of the water and remove the handle, then remove the large brass or chrome ring behind the center sleave that is behind the handle. now that ring is what holds the cartridge in the valve body, you will need to remove the cartridge the rubber seats and springs will both need to be changed ,you can buy a rebuild kit for this facuet, it has everything you need even the o rings you will find in there . Hope Ive Solved your problem! Thanks
