the lock is only to prevent the door from opening, it does not cause the unit not to cool properly. If this is a chest freezer, a not uncommon occurrence can happen in similar situations, used for a while, then not plugged in for a period of time, and when its used again stops cooling. The lack of usage causes the refrigerant lines in the cabinet walls to rust, and therefore the refrigerant leaks.
You might consider a service call just to make sure.
Most of the time the bin has been removed and not put back in properly. When this happens ice blocks the drive motor. Remove the bin and turn the auger by hand make sure it will turn and is not jammed. Now with the bin out push the light button in that turns the light out and have someone push the button for ice while the door is still open the motor should turn in the back make sure thereis no ice blocking it. If it turns nothing is wrong with the motor. The clicking sound is usually the motor jammed by ice or the auger not engaged on the motor. hope this helps good luck
Try this:
-Turn the control switch all the way to 0. Let it stay for 10 minutes or more then turn it up to number 5 to see it kick the motor or not.
If not then possibly the relay is bad.
But if there is power there then the motor is bad.
Good luck and do not store any food in until it had fixed
Good day, After that much time, be sure the fan motor in the freezer compartment is running, as well as the fan motor on the back bottom behind the cover by the compressor. Either could well have frozen up after 4 years of storage. As well a refrigerant leak could have developed because of the time frame. However, if it is less then 5 years old, the sealed system would still be under factory warranty.
If the freezer was stored and not running for 7 years it may have lost coolant. Since the compressor is running recharging the coolant may fix the problem. Hot compressor might indicate low coolant since its motor is immersed in it.
THis happened to mine last year. The part you need is #628366 Motor - Module. Sorry That is what i had to do, but i had to pay a repair man to find the problem. Hope this helps.
