I have an insignia T.V. that I picked up on the curb. The power cord was cut. I want to rewire a cord to it. It has a white and black line. Does the white line go to the fat plug or the thin plug in the wall outlet?

What has likely happened is one of the wires, white or black, inside the black plastic electric cord has fractured.
This is really common on electric hand tools that are either over 5 years old or are well-used.
I can't count how many times it has happened to me!
You will need to somehow cut the cord off at the bad spot, and rewire the end of the cord into the end of the drill handle.
Won't be easy, but you can do it.
Many more modern tools have a reinforced sleeve of about 2 inches at this weak spot.

Hello, black is the line or "hot" wire. White is the neutral and green is the ground wire.. On the cord end the black goes to the smaller of the two parallel blades and the white to the larger. The green goes to the one that is more round, the ground.

Malibu power packs are 1-piece units that can't be taken apart.
However you can cut off the cord and leave about 4-6" of cord sticking out, and then splice into the cord that's sticking out.

Usually I buy heavy orange or black extension cord with male-female plugs on each end.
I cut off female end and use that end to splice into the cord that's sticking out.

How to splice wire.
Use knife and slice down the cord lengthwise... just cut through the outer plastic covering.
Pull the outer cover cover back to reveal black and white wires.
Cut off extra cover.
Cut back insulation on each black and white wire.
Now you have 2 black wires and 2 white wires/
Twist together the copper wire on whites and cover with plastic electrician tape.
Do the same with copper wires on blacks.
Now the blacks are joined/ and whites are joined, and each has tape over copper wire.
Wrap black tape around both sets of wires until all the black and white is covered with several wraps of tape.
That's it. Plug it in.

I just rewired a Beckett submersible with a new plug. Brown is hot, blue is neutral and green strip is ground.

On your requirement to "...rewire the ignition system..." of an XS650, below basic ignitor wiring scheme maybe of reference:

• white / red - from pick up;
• white / green - from pick up;
• black / white - from pick up;
• orange - to ignition coil;
• red / white - IGN + 12 from engine stop switch ;
• black - ground;
