First, try using System Restore. Choose the latest available restore point before you deleted the files. Reboot. Check. Instructions here.
For other solutions, it would really help to know what OS you're using. You should be able to look at the device manager and check the health of your sound components, troubleshoot the installation, and update or reinstall the device drivers to enable the sound to function again. This link will take you to a sound troubleshooter from Dell. They are also available from MS if you google "troubleshoot sound xp" or vista.
You should have a recovery disc with drivers from Dell or a recovery partition on your computer that you can use to repair the driver files you deleted. Here's a tutorial to guide you through the update process safely. You can also download the original drivers from Dell if you use your service tag to locate the right ones. Another more radical option is to restore the system to original default configuration, but make sure you have backups of all your data before attempting this.

Unfortunately when you delete the volume you delete necessary files for your restore partition that are located at the end of the c: Drive. It is never advised to wipe a C: Drive if you plan on using the DSR partition of your dell. You can try to see if restore will come up but I doubt it. Tap your F8 button when your computer starts a few times, if you get a windows screen that has the option to Repair My Computer then select it and go to the very bottom choice after that to select the last option which is Dell Restore Image. In the event that choice is not there you got some problems. Or if you can not even get to this Restore Screen or Diagnostic Screen after the F8 you got problems. The only other way to get up and running is to contact Dell and order some restore discs. Then load from there. They are available for chat online at dell.com. Just make sure you are the original owner or at least have the information for the registered owner of the unit. Otherwise they will not help you.
Good Luck!
