Dishwasher door no longer spring loaded. If standing too close, it if hurt your legs. it will stay closed, but no spring to load the weight of the door when opening.

In most cases, there are 2 springs inside the door, one right and one left.
Either a spring has broken, or the metal; holder that holds the end of the spring has.
That spring should be available from "searspartsdirect" if you will type your model number into their web-site.
God bless your efforts.

ADJUST TENSION DOOR

Just below dish loading door there is a panel. Remove screws (if applicable) to find tension adjustment. Turn screw to the left to loosen or opposite lifting door open or closed untill happy with tension. Some washers have no adjustment, I suggest opening door fully and pulling out bottom load tray, loading and then top tray or rack, pushing top in first then bottom rack. Use a glass fry pan cover or fry pan for weight on door while filling soap. Good luck, best regards

Cannot open the door of the dishwasher.

Hi,
  • The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem.

  • If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.

  • Your dishwasher has two springs that counterbalance the weight of the door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy and you need to replace both springs.

How do I adjust the door of the dishwasher so that it doesn't fall completely open

There is a T20 screw located above the tub (open door to view) toward the left side. Tighten this screw a turn at a time, testing the apparrent door weight between turns until the door is neutral.

I have neff intergrated dishwasher, but the door does not seem to stay on. It has two fixings at the bottom and two at the top. Any ideas?

When you open the dishwasher door you will see three screws along each edge. You need to remove the middle screws and replace them with longer ones that will go into the door front as well.

Door won't open

Call the store where you bought it or the GE repair service, you should be covered under warranty, this should not happen on a new machine.

Dishwasher door, too much spring

YES after you have the panel installed it will open and close much better the factory sets the springs on your model tight so when the panel is installed it can weight down the door after the panel is install you may have to readjust them tighter again

Dishwasher DI450 Door

Hi chrissy99

Not sure what do you mean by keeping the door to stay open. Well if you want to keep the door open during operation , identify the mechanism that triggers the on button .

In my dishwasher to check if it function properly , I keep a small wedge / strip near the handle / button which opens the door.
