I dont think tuning of the amp is an issue, my son tweaked the knobs of the amp every which way with no success, I am afraid something got hot and cooked, since its in his trunk and the temps have been in the 90's

Sometimes clicking, or popping sounds from subs are caused by over excursion of the subwoofer, wich can be caused by ultra low frequency, or going below the tuned frequency of your enclosure.

It's not about the tuning of the amp, it's about the tuning of the enclosure, and the particular song.. ANd was just meant a suggestion of what it could be.. DO you notice it on every song? One part of a paticular song or two? Popping all the time? Angain I was just offering sugggestions of what could be the problem. And thank you so much for the generous rating.

I have a kicker 500.2 red protection light is on and red light on top of amp flashes every couple seconds. Have checked all connections and other amp in truck works good. I bought two of these amps and...

Disconnect all the wires except the three main power wires, ground, 12v battery and remote. Now, turn on your radio, if the protect light is still on then there's an internal short in the amp. If the light turns green, then there's a short in either the auxiliary cables or the speaker outs. If it turns green, then troubleshoot the other wires that plug into the amp by connecting them one at a time until the protect light comes on, which will tell you that there's a problem with that speaker/aux wire.

Kicker impulse 254 amp red light on top?

1st check all of your wiring, make sure the remote wire is hooked up, check to see it the RCA's are hooked up. I know this sounds stupid, but i've done it a thousand times, check to see if you hooked up the speakers. If you checked all of those and still nothing, double check your ground. Make sure where you have it grounded, you have all the paint sanded away and its a good grounding point. The red light on the top of the amp, its not a protection light is it??

No sound from subwoofer Solo Baric L7

check the resistance of the sub with a digital multi meter, make sure you dissconect the sub from everything before you check the resistance, if your sub is supposed to be 4 ohms than it should be between 3-5 ohms, if it is under 1 that the sub is blown, while the sub is dissconected from the amp, turn the system on, does it still go into protection?

Kicker amo in my old vette

If the amp is in protect mode, it probably has shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems, do the following.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp (not on the point where the ground wire connected to the vehicle) and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage drops below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is dropping too low when the amp goes into protect.

If the voltage is OK, you need to check the speaker wiring and the speaker(s). Try it with a known good speaker if possible to see if the amp works normally.

Can i fix it ?

If no one else offers any suggestions, remove the transistor. Set your multimeter to ohms. If the solder pad for the left-most leg of the transistor goes to the B+ terminal of the amp (possibly via a low value resistor) and the center leg goes to pins 8, 11 and/or 12 of the tl494/tl594, the transistor is likely a 2sb631 or a 2sb649. The transistor is used to switch power to the tlx94.

If there were more than 2 of the IRFZ44 transistors (the ones most commonly used by kicker) in the supply, you need to change all of them. It's very rare that any survive. When one goes, they all go.

Did you check the audio transistors to see if any had failed?

Power light

This could be a DC offset condition. Check you manual for what this means. Or other condition. First Disconnect the Subs and try it. If it still goes red then disconnect the RCA's and try it again. If the Led continues to go red after the click then the Amp is hosed. The Click you hear is an internal relay that cuts the subs in after a dely so you do not get the turn on THUMP of the radio at your subs.

Power Protection Circuit (SORT) Engaged

Umm a ohm meter would help you here. Double check the wires from the sub to the amp...make sure its not shorting out. Try starting the amp without the wires on the terminals...if the protection shows up then there is a short inside the unit and it will need to be replaced/repaired.
