Any Radio Shack or Best Buy for sure and even Staples and the like will have wireless devices that should help you figure out how to hook up what you have. For that matter a new set might be so inexpensive as to save you the hassle.
I tried forever to connect the keyboard & mouse, then realized that I didn't have to hold the connect buttons on the receiver & keyboard for so long...it just wouldn't connect...until I figured out that you should only press the buttons for a second then immediately let go...both keyboard & mouse (while both cheap looking) have been working great since! Love the hot-buttons/keys!
I'm pretty well sold that the technical support at HP is completely worthless. They have some tree they look at for answers but have no actual technical ability, making them about as useful as an extra **** on your elbow
