Sound like unit is wet inside or some buttons are stuck. Usually happens when sweet drink us spilled on remote

Un-plug the tv`s AC power cord, wait 30 seconds, plug back in and pray, this will set re-set the micro to the default mode which may have gotten glitched by a power surge, hope it works for you.

I agree with Brian for you to seek pro help if not electronic literate however there is a power supply repair kit available for this model off ebay for intermittent power or flashing red light . don't attempt if you don't know what you are doing repair costs are cheaper than replacement .
Try a different HDMI cable. The one you have might be shorted internally.
