I've checked that the setting are same in the port configuration, the printer port configuration and the DIP switch. Your help is more than appreciated

you need to use the printer cable that was design for the printer. if you don't have the cable anymore, then you have to take the commercial cable apart and reconfigure in accordance to page 43 of the manual call outs.
Besides the cable, the printer software is only good for Windows 2000. Windows XP will not work unless Epson provide you with the printer driver. (which I did not see on the website).
all in all if you must use this printer with Windows Xp. you need to create a file in Autoexec.bat to enable the printer and allow the USB to connect to the printer.
that is going take time to do. if you need help on that. please post the request here.

Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.
