Troy Bilt 4 cycle weed eater - trimmer head doesn't spin

Troy Bilt 4 cycle weed eater.
Engine spins fine. Weed eater attachment head doesn't spin. Pretty sure attachment isn't seating properly into drive shaft, but don't know how to make it do so.

Why does the weed eater not trim even though it spins?

it is getting hot from friction because you cannot tighten it so the head spins but everytime it hits a wed it tries to stop spinniing because it is slipping from the bolt not tightened. fix the bolt hole with a tap and put in a new bolt

TB575 es 4 stroke -- head won't stop spinning. It's like its on a straight saft to the engine.

Your clutch has failed. Most common reason is a broken clutch spring, but sometimes a shoe will break. To get to your clutch, you need to separate the engine from the shaft at the front face of the engine, NOT where the shaft enters the engine housing.

The head will not spin on Troy Built weed eatter

sounds like your flex cable has taken a trip south. Pull the shaft off the head and take a look at the flex cable. If flex cable is ok, they your clutch is defective.

Troy-Bilt Trimmer TB425CS

Sound like the clutch is going out or already is bad. There should be a cone shape cover that attaches the engine to the handle. Usually with 4 screws. Take those screws out and seperate the housing. There is a small centrifugal clutch, which is probably bad.
