SOURCE: Bobbin case.......
A bobbin case for accommodating a bobbin which has a shaft portion and a collar portion formed on both sides of the shaft portion on which a thread is wound, the bobbin case comprises: an opening being opened on at least one side of an axial direction of the shaft portion, for detachably accommodating the bobbin; a thread take-up portion provided in the axial direction opposite to the opening, for pulling out the thread of the bobbin; and a holding member which makes contact with the bobbin and nonrotatably holds the bobbin.

I'm having a similar problem today. I took out the bobbin case and when I went to put it back in, the whole system locks up. I've tired cleaning, changing needle taking the metal plate and piece that holds bobbin case out and put it all back in after cleaning. Nothing. My symptom is I can't get a complete stitch, the needle goes down, the whole deal acts like it will work and as soon as the arm of the bobbin case gets to 8 o' clock on the gears, It jams and won't hardly move. I cannot pull the bobbin case out easily after this. Perhaps there is someone out there that can help us!

you can remove the rocker switch this will allow you to move the case away which inturn will allow more access

ok Sim this is a bit tricky but not to tricky first turn the handwheel toward you until the hook is at one o clock postion then slide the case without the bobbin in into the hook area you may have to work the handwheel back and forth alittle but it should slide in just remember that the case should ride in the rim. also take the needle out first that way you wont get stuck trust me it happiens.

Check between the tension disc, sometimes you can get a piece of thread caught in that and it prevents it from tightening down and making a good stitch. Also, make sure that your presser foot is in the up position when you thread your machine.
Remove the screw from the top of the Janome face plate with a small flathead screwdriver. The face plate is on the top of the sewing machine directly above the needle.
Pull the face plate up and away from the sewing machine gently.
Face the sewing machine as if you were about to start sewing.
Locate a small cylinder attached to the side of the sewing machine facing you that had been covered by the face plate. Apply one or two drops of oil to the top of this cylinder.
Locate a small square that is directly above the needle of the machine, also previous hidden by the face plate. Apply one or two drops of oil directly above and below this square.
Replace the face plate and tighten the screw.
Open the hook cover of the sewing machine as if you were changing the bobbin. This area is located directly under the needle.
Remove the bobbin case by grasping the lever on the case and gently pulling the case out from the machine.
Remove the hook ring and the hook. These two parts are behind the bobbin case and should come out easily.
Apply one drop of oil to the center of the hole the bobbin was removed from.
Replace all of the parts you removed from the sewing machine.
Good luck
