Originally I could not set the temp on my water heater as it would fluctuate between 80 and 150 and would not stay put. Company sent me a new ESM Replacement Kit and the lock button does not work so I can't use any of the buttons on the new module. They then sent another replacement module and it does the same thing. Am I doing something wrong or have I just received two bad modules?
A button any remote should only be pressed once, unless another function is available. By keeping the button in, it may go into another mode. The golden rule is to press the button firmly and only for a short period. When a remote does not do its job of sending the signal, people tend to press harder. This practice aggravates the problem, which normally is a flat battery.
Testimonial: "That is not the problem. I was always unable to unlock the original module by holding the 3 seconds as stated in the instructions until the lock icon went off. The 2 new ones I was sent the background light comes in on when touched but the icon never goes out therefore none of the buttons will work as they are still locked."

I would check the fuses and relays along with the ground wires. Something as minor as a ground wire can throw everying into havoc so i would start there and work you way up to the ECM.

http://www.grandprixforums.net/f73/water-floorboard-take-2-permanent-fix-6961.html Here is a link that I found over the weekend as I was getting water dripping onto the passenger side floorboards from the heater motor while in the car wash. The part # in the attached link is 15794785. This is a GM # for a deflector that fits under the cowl. Hopefully this helps you.

DON'T KNOW WHAT YEAR YOU HAVE BUT THE TRANSMISSION MODULE NEEDS TO BE PROGRAMMED TO WORK PROPERLY.
SOURCE: Water temp gage sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't
Likely the temp sending unit has failed. They aren't very expensive. One on 4.0 engine is on the thermostat housing but don't know which engine you have.
Blower problem could be the resistor pack but not sure exactly where it is on yours, it is always on the heater box and generally looks like a flat fiber plate with four wires going to it.
