Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-20FS100 20" TV Logo

Front panel buttons and remote have stopped working.

I have a Sony 32" (KV32FS13) that has been having issues recently. None of the buttons up front (top channel and volume and lower menu buttons)work except for the power button. Occasionally the favorite channel menu will pop up repeated and the screen will flicker as if it is selecting a channel from the menu. As a result the remote has stopped responding as well. Any suggestions as to potential problems or items to trouble shoot. Thanks in advance!

Is the favorite channel menu a function that is normally accessed by a button on the remote?

If so, that button on the remote might be stuck.
If this is the case, the menu may at times pop up all by itself and other buttons on the remote and on the TV's front panel may not respond at all (it had happened on my remotes more than once).

Try to clean the remote control (the housing, rubber pad with knobs, circuit board) with ethyl alcohol, when you clean the housing, you should also clean the holes through which the buttons protrude, there might be some dirt that keeps the button stuck.

It may also be a stuck button on the TV front panel, so check these too.

Also, it could be something else, i just wrote the description of a problem and the solution which to me seemed most likely.

Hope you get it fixed.

regards

The remote needs to turn on tv

If your'e meaning the set turns on with the remote and works but will not turn on by the power button on the TV itself. Then it would be an issue with the front controls pcb possibly bad tact switches, connections or other issues. But the front control board will require replacement if your symptoms as I described above. If so you can get the front control boards from www.tvcircuitboards.com

Botton sensor is not working but im using remote oky

If none of the actual buttons on front or side do not work set may have a lock feature locking them out.

If only a single button is not working it will be a bad switch that the button activates--let me know if you have questions.

Hi Jimmy,

Have you try using remote commander? It seems the power button on your tv is broken. It could be on button pad, or cables connected to it. Can you try check it?

My SONY KV32FS13 DO NOT HAVE IMAGEN ON THE SCREEN NO GET ANY CHANNEL OF TV OR CABLE ONLY WORK WITH DVD EVERY TIME WHEN TURN ON COME OUT NO SIGNAL.

Try pressing Tv/Video on the remote control and see if it doesn't switch input modes. If it doesn't, follow these steps:

1) Press the menu button

2) Navigate over to Channel Setup

3) Move down to Video Label and select it

4) Make sure none of the video inputs are labeled "SKIP". If so then do the following

5) Highlight the input labeled "SKIP" and select it

6) Use the up and down arrows and you should see a different name for the input. This will enable the selected input to be used.

7) Exit the menu by pushing the menu button on the remote.

8) Press Tv/Video on the remote and you should see the other stuff (cable, vcr, xbox, etc.).

The stand by timer light on the front panel is flashing red why? and how to stop?

Hi,

This is because there is some internal problem in the TV.
try pressing the POWER button on your remote control or on the TVfront panel.

If the problem persists, see “Contacting Sony“ at the
end of this section.
Thanx

Sony 27" wont turn off!!!!

It looks like one of the buttons on the front panel is stuck, base on the info you have provided; the volumen down button is stuck. The remote or any other buttons will not be operative until the fault has been remove.
I would suggest to try to press the Vol. down a few times just to see of it unlocks, if that does not work, the front panel assembly will have to be remove and try again if it works with the remote or manually.
The last thing to do if none of the above works, it will be to put a new switch.
Good Luck.

Sony 36' TV Volume Goes up on own/Stuck on Video 2

There's a setting in the menu. I think it's called "smart audio". It's supposed to adjust the volume automatically for commercials. But I don't think it works that well. Give that a try.
