Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KD-36FS130 36" TV
I have a 3 year old 36' inch Sony trinitron that has a ghost! After the TV is turned on the volume rises automatically to full volume. I can adjust the volume down on the panel on the fromt of the TV but not through the remote. I also CANNOT change the TV off the Video 2 setting using the remote or the front panel. I have tried: 1. unplugging the TV for 10 minutes and removed the batteries from the remote. Then replaced the batteries in the remote. 2. Unpluged all the cables coming into the TV and left the TV unplugged overnight. 3. Attempted to enter the diagnostic screen with no sucess. 4. Counted the "flashing" light s as the TV started up. (It never stops flashing until the picture appears.) Amout 12 - 13 times with no pause inbetween. 5. Blocked the front of the TV with a piece of cardboard and work on the front panel buttons to block any possible remotes causing the problems. I am completely lost on what this might be!
Hi -
I had the exact same problem recently with my SONY Trinitron 27 inch TV! After trying everything, I found that pushing the Up and Down volume controls on the TV panel (ie NOT on the remote) at the same time, the problem went away. I hope that this helps!

Hi -
I had the exact same problem with my SONY 27 inch Trinitron recently. After trying just about everything, I found that pressing both the up and down volume on the TV controls (ie NOT the remote) at the same time, the problem went away. I hope that this helps.

There's a setting in the menu. I think it's called "smart audio". It's supposed to adjust the volume automatically for commercials. But I don't think it works that well. Give that a try.

Have your unit examine by a qualified person, it seems that u have a problem with the system controller ic or probably the memory ic!
