The valve is probably faulty, even if the gas comes out it probably doesnt have right pressure. the owen as it is may be dangerous, I suggest having it checked by a qualified technician.

SOURCE: gas will not stay ignited

could be dirty heater you have to clean the runners and the smole nozzles that are in the manifold below the gas valve it's like a 9/16 size you pull them off and check make sure they are clear through, sometimes little spiderwebs build up inside them. if it's all clean, then it could be you flame rectifier/ aka: flame sensing rod, that tells the htr that there is fire so it keeps running. Let me know what happened.

Hg2415uc siemens oven not heating

The ignitor, or glow coil, has to draw something like 3.2 amps for the safety gas valve to open to let gas in. With that said, just because the ignitor is glowing, doesn't mean that its working properly. I've had to change one safety valve in a total of 13 years of doing this, so I'm thinking the ignitor on your machine is bad.

Hello Randolph,

Since the ignitor glows it eliminates all other possibilites and the ignitor is weak and not drawing enough amprage(3.3 to 3.6) to open the gas valve, i know you going to have a hard time believing that since it does come on, but i base my diagnosis on my 30 years experience as a appliance repair technician

pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven, turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

Draft fan comes on glow plug lights a click is heard but gas valve seems not to open glow goes out then lights again with ignition.

It sounds to me like your gas valve is bad. If you can get induced draft motor to come on then Hot surface ignitor to come on the next step should be lighting burner. I would check to verify that you have fuel to unit and if you do I would reccomend you get a new gas valve. Hope this helps. Thanks

Igniter comes on but gas won't light

It should glow almost a bright white. If its just an orange glow then replace the ignitor. Its probably just weak. If its weak it will not allow enough current to flow through it to open the gas valve. Good luck _MJ_

The oven wont light. Panel light comes on and

Attach a amp meter to the ignitor wire. If you read 3 amps or less, replace the ignitor. 3 amps or more replace the gas valve.

Oven not lighting on Amana model agds902ss

Helloemauldin Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

When you turn the thermostat on your range on it sends 120 volts to the bake valve and ignitor. The bake valve and ignitor are wired in series and the ignitor draws all the current and heats up. As the ignitor heats its resistance changes and when it is cherry red the current switches to the gas valve and it opens. The amp draw on the ignitor needs to be 3.2-3.6 amps for the gas valve to open. The gas valve has gas to it at all times. The gas valve should open within 40 seconds after the ignitor starts to glow.
If the ignitor is glowing red and the gas valve doesn’t open the ignitor is usually the problem. Sometimes the ignitor will glow red but the resistance doesn’t change and the gas valve doesn’t draw the current.

This is not a do it your selfer!

Goodman GMP075-3 ignition problem

OK, if the furnace is not lighting for even a few seconds, you have either a bad gas valve, bad wire, bad control module or no gas. The pressure switch is not the issue. Check all wires to the gas valve and look for 24 volts across them when the ignitor glows and you hear the click. Then test for 24 volts to ground. It could be a bad ground wire.

Roper gas range and oven with electric igniter

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.
