I have a 1983 suzuki gs 750. I replaced my airbox with single airpods and also put in larger jets. The bike still isnt running correctly. I checked the plugs and theyre clean so I think that there isnt a proper air to fuel mix. Also, the bike jerks when I get up to a certain point of throttling and it chugs then bursts up to speed. My jet sizes are Main 122.5 and Pilot 42.5. This is larger than the original jets. Do I need to go larger and if so does anyone know exactly how much bigger so that I dont keep wasting money on jets that dont work because you cant return them.
You are dealing with Suzuki vacuum carbs, you cannot just replace the air box and re-jet. What you are running into is there is no pressure to raise the diaphragm because there is no restriction to create such vacuum. Either put the stock box back on or go to the biggest main jets you can buy. Sometime even when you get stage 3 jets you still have issues. Vacuum carbs are not made to run with no restrictions.....putting aftermarket exhaust on it will make things much worse.
You have an improper fuel/air mixture. what were the stock jets & pilots? Go up about 4 sizes on the pilots and 2 sizes on the mains

I have a gs 750 and swapped out to pod filters... I forget the exact size but they were as large as I could go... It runs great really woke the bike up it's a dam beast... I'm sitting on my girls couch so I can't just go look into my files for the exact number.. But I remember it being the largest available.. Another thing to watch out for Is tiny pin holes in your diaphragm of the carb...it happens over the years and is a pricey fix.. But it can also cause sum funny hard to diagnose carb problems... But now sweat get bigger jets ... However I do have a yoshi pipe on it as well though..best of luck!!
