Suzuki GS 1100 idle problem

The bike wont idle and cuts out. Weve run carb cleaner through the airbox at high idle, checked the seats and needles on 2 of the 4 carbs and done the spark gap tests all of which came up fine. The colour tune looks ok when we hold the throttle at a idle speed. Our only thought now is to reset the idle screw settings even though the thing runs a bit rough at higher revs. Any thoughts??

SOURCE: GSXR 750 Slingshot wont rev past 5000rpm, with or without choke

I have seen this before a few things to do too make sure. First take the air filter out and shine a light use your fingers to move the slides up and down I suspect the springs that go on the slide is not seated in center you can tell from the slide going halfway and hanging up. Next, the boots on the slides only go on 1 way there is a notch on the carbs for them. I would guess this would fix you up if not we can get deeper into it with air-fuel mix screw settings.good luck

i had a similar problem on a suzuki gs250t custom, my bike would not start some times and if did start, would run erratically, and cut out, this was after i changed the spark plugs, found out that the supplier gave me the incorrect graded plugs.

SOURCE: I need tuning specs for my 1982 suzuki gs 750.

You need to fix the fueling first - without fuel it won't run!
Your other problem sounds like an air leak - either the manifold or the carb. Check by spraying WD-40 or CRC at the manifold and carb join while the bike is running - if the revs change (either up or down) you have a leak.

2004 suzuki gs 500 leaks gas out of overflow tube and into airbox. runs crappy if at all.

You have a Float that is not closing or a bad needle and seat, my suggestion is to rebuild the carb reset the float and you will be good to go.

I need a detailed diagram of the carbs for my 1981 GSX 1100. The one in the Haynes manual I have is not very detailed.

Google babbitts sports center.com then click on buy oem parts and then select your specific bike. A parts diagram will come up, change the page from 'air cleaner' to 'carburetor' on the drop down menu and you can see your carb assembly. Hope this helps...

2003 V Star 650. Had fule pumping out of air cleaner box

you shouldnt have to resync the carbs as long as you dont touch the mixture screws or the screws for the throttle blades. you wont have to pull the jets completly out to clean them just spray the heck out of all the orifaces with carb cleaner once you have them pulled apart. Also whe you put it back together make shure the carb seal to the engine and airbox are tight with no leaks, this will make it run bad also

Leaks gas

the needle and seat in the carb isn't seating. First, shut off the petcock, and drain the fuel bowls with the screw on the bottom of the bowls. Let all the gas drain out of the bowls.Tap lightly on the carb with a small hammer, the refill the carbs, see if it still leaks. if it does, you need to pull the bowls off, remove the float and clean out the needle and seat, and put it back together
