Dropped the machine now it want sew properly, the stitches loop and certain stitches want form i have cleaned and oiled no money to take it to repairman

Well, the simple answer for this may just be the needle. Sometimes you would be surprised what these machines can withstand. Perhaps in your understandable panic over doing something as shocking as accidentally dropping something as expensive as a sewing machine, the simple things were overlooked. Stitches not forming correctly are almost always a sign of the thread and needle not working together with the fabric. The needle could be damaged or the wrong type for the fabric; the thread tension could be wrong, and so on. I am crossing my fingers that the issue is something that inexpensive. Although, of none of those suggestions fix the issue, you might just have to take it in to the shop. Call around first and go only to a shop that does free estimates- they will be able to tell you how much a repair might be before they do the work. It also might, at that point, be something small he will fix at no charge (my repair guy is wonderful like that). To my understanding, repair bills for such an issue (if there is a need for such a repair) will run in the ballpark of $25-100. Here is to hoping that it is only a $.69 needle!

My top stich is tight, but bottom is loose of my singer sewing machine.

Think in opposites... the top stitch is formed by the bottom thread tension and the bottom of the stitch by the top. So either the bobbin thread is too tight or the top thread is too loose. Check the bobbin thread first as that is the one most overlook. It should come out of the bobbin without having to yank it hard but it should have a little resistance.

I am trying to sew buttonholes with the one step button hole function on my Singer 3116 - Simple. I have been using the function with no issues, but now for some reason, the machine is stopping short and...

There doesnt seem to be a reason - you are doing everything as it should be - lever down to stop the foot according the the button size is the most overlooked step.

I would take the buttonhole foot off and see it is moving as it should. Don't force as the plastic parts can break and then try again to make the buttonhole.

If you still cannot make the buttonhole, the problem may be the control switch and this would have to be checked by a Singer Sewing Machine Tech.

Check your warranty - faulty switches are covered for two years, but you pay the labor.

Do not overlook having the presser foot up when threading or you will have a brand new situation.

Can't get a straight stitch. too loopy.

yes, a greater number will be more tension, i find it helps to use four different color of threads so that it is easier to see the change in the adjustment that you make. be positive that the machine is threaded correctly and the thread is IN the tension disc, very easy to overlook. hopes this helps

Bobbin?

DO NOT RESET THE TIMING!! The timing is off on maybe 1 in 100 modern Husqvarna machines. For the user to change the timing is turning a simple fix into a complicated and expensive fix.
If the top thread is "looping up on the bottom" then you have a problem with the tension on the top thread. Here is what to check:
1. Thread the machine all the way through the eye of the needle. Don't go under the foot.
2. Pull the tread to the side. While pulling, lower the presser foot. You should see the needle bend as the thread gets tight. If not, you have no tension on the top thread.
3. With the bobbin in the case, hold the needle thread and turn the handwheel to bring the thread up. Watch through the cover to see if the thread passes over the bobbin from left to right. When it gets to the right side, the take up lever should pull the slack out and the thread should be pulled up. If it comes part way across but does not pull up, make sure the thread is in the take up lever. If you never see the thread, remove the bobbin case and turn the hand wheel. You should be able to see the hook pass behind the needle while the eye is still below the level of the hook. If the eye is above the hook as it passes the needle from right to left, then and only then consider timing the machine. If the hook passes above the eye but doesn't catch the thread (bobbin case out, needle plate on, presser foot down) you probably have a problem with your needle. Put in a new needle and make sure that the flat side is to the back.
99% of the time when a Husqvarna is not picking up the bobbin thread, something simple has been overlooked. Your symptom of looping on the back of the fabric indicate either a threading or tension issue in most cases, not timing.
