Question about Kenwood Car Audio & Video

Kenwood KDC-138. When we turn car off, deck stays on unless I manually turn off. Worried it could drain battery. It it normal that it stays on after car is turned off, or do I have a wiring problem ?

You have a wiring problem
power to the deck, wireless and all accessories should be cut when the key is removed

Kenwood kdc-138, NO SOUND, CD PLAYER NO RESPONDING

First thing you need to do is make sure you dont have a short in the speaker wires.. if any one of them touches ground it kills the system.. then you have to remove all the wires and start over... disconnect the battery... remove all the speaker wires only and then turn it on and reset it... then again remove the battery from the car and install them all make sure nothing is touching then turn it back on and see if that works.. you can also test to make sure you speaker wires are good by using a 9v battery and touching positive and negative of each speaker to the positive and neg of the battery... JUST FOR A SECOND it will pop.. that means your wires are good and no shorted to that speaker.

Here's the Manual for your KDC-138 deck...

http://kenwoodusa.com/UserFiles/File/Global/Consumer/Manuals/kdcmp238.pdf

On Page 18 it describes the error that you're seeing... let me re-type it here:

PROTECT / DCER: The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle, and then the protection function is activated.
-- Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button

I found on Page 3, the reset button is located just below and to the left of the volume knob...

I hope that helps.

change the tune mode to standby mode. Then press menu button for few second until clock word is displayed on the screen. Afterward, press the center of the main control button on the right side of the stereo system. The time is now blinking and you can start set the time by pressing upward & downward button for hour and left & right button for the minute

How do i set loud on my kenwood kdc 138

There is no "LOUD" function for this radio.
There is a Bass Boost setting (found on page 4 of the manual).

Kenwood KDC-138 Operation Problem

Here's the quote from the manual regarding "dcer": "The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle and then the protection function is activated. Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. If the "PROTECT/DCER" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service center "

I believe the manual can be downloaded from crutchfield .com after you go to the Kenwood KDC-138 page on their website. The reset button is either on the lower left of the face or, removing the face, on the lower left of the body. Hope this helps you.
