I am from the uk so I don't no much about seat Ibiza,,does it have spark plugs or is it fuel injected?
if its plugs then I would replace them
if its fuel injected then sorry I have no idea.
all I can say is then tell him to check battery leads make sure they are nice and clean and they are making a good connection to the earth of the car and the battery terminals.all I can say is then tell him to check battery leads make sure they are nice and clean and they are making a good connection to the earth of the car and the battery terminals.

Manifold Pressure sensor (MAP sensor, probably located on the intake manifold somewhere) has an Implausible signal i.e. going out of a plausible range. you could try removing the connector and reseating it. I've seen this a few times where just reseating the connector fixes the problem, if not it'll probably need replacing.
The problem is the cold start sensor ,but not sure what year your vehicle is because iam in spain and have been for 23yrs so me an R reg is if i remember correctly ??hammm J was a 71 so it must must be about a 76???
I've seen this with several vehicles within the mid 90s (including a 95 probe) and traced it back each time to the electronic ignition. As the car drives, the ignition coil heats up and becomes more resistive. As this happens, the coil outputs less voltage until finally it's not enough to put out sufficient spark to fire the cylinders.
Try this: Drive the car around for a while. When you start feeling the motor struggle, park somewhere and idle until it dies. Then quickly pop the hood, pull an ignition wire, pop in an extra plug and hold near the block (check for fuel leaks first!!) and observe the spark strength. If it looks weak, a new electronic ignition unit will solve your problem.
