Sarp D-740 has worked fine for years. My son (an expert) helped me connect to my excellent Samsung DLP 42" TV. I have been using the component ouput successfully. Three wires color coded. great picture quality. Took a trip. Power turned off -always do that, never caused a problem. Now, when I turn it on the TV does not recognize component input, but does recognize S-video as available, also DTV-cable. I checked the cables and all are still connected. I was an Electronic Tech in WWII and know how to connect things (also I was head of the project that developed JPEG, see http://ftp.fas.org/irp/program/disseminate/dds.htmMy son says to redo Setup, but how do I do that.

The first expert obviosly did not read or comprehend my comment. If the TV shows the two inputs that i named, of course it is on and is accepting inputs. And, as an experienced technician from WWII, I said that i checked the three Component cables. I wonder if he knows what jpeg is??.

I believe all you have to do is to connect the wires...( I understood ya already done that correctly )after that .select the AV frqv on the tv ....you would be more than sure prompt on the player to confirm or select the connection type .....they are usually preset-ed to recognize different conection and prompt you for an action ...

Well there shouldn't be much you can re-do, just unplug the component cables and re-plug. Make sure the device you are trying to watch is turned on and definitely outputting something across the component cables. Does the TV let you switch to component and nothing is on screen or you can't even switch?

Thanks
Tim

Sir obviously you didn't read my answer, I read your question thoroughly, and know what JPEG is. I was trying to get more information from you but since you rated my response poorly I can no longer reply. Also, I don't know why you have to be so rude? Good luck with your obviously simple problem.

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp.Have a bless one!

Why is my 42" dlp tv turns itself off after awhile?

the power supply is not working fine. your tv needs preventive service so that semiconductor, diodes and capacitors are changed on the power supply before it switches off completely on its own.

TV displays green colour on face, everything else fine

Was the color wheel replaced recently? If not and you are connected to a HD cable or satellite box using component cables. Make sure they are seated properly or connected correctly.

I have seen that sometimes the solder becomes loose on the input board. If you are under a warranty I would call and get someone to check it out.

Please recheck component connections in both units and make sure to hook up them according to corresponding colors like blue to blue, red to red and orange to orange.

Problem with tv turning off by itself.

I had a friend with the same problem. He had to clean the components and fans in the set. The accumulated dust had caused the set to run hot and a safety switch was the tv off. He purchased a few cans of compressed air and, as he blew the components and fans out, used a vacuum to capture the blown dust. Good luck.
