Bernina 1006 foot peddle does nothing - Bernina Sewing Machines

There's no 1006 on the Bernina website, but the 1008 appears to be nearly identical.

If you push the Stitch Length lever all the way up, the machine will reverse.

The contacts in the foot control are likely broken
a qualified Bernina Technician should be involved

Take it for service. It could be a simple problem but it probably isn't good for the motor to be activated constantly. Also, it could be a possible fire hazard.

Change your settings to 'normal' sewing position and try again.
You may have locked it in whilst sewing something specific.

I have a BSR on my machine but every time I use it, I have to go through a checklist, otherwise it will not work. I use the foot control with mine, otherwise it will continue to sew in place when I stop moving the fabric. If you have never used your BSR, maybe it hasn't been calibrated for your particular machine--if your machine is ever serviced, it's recommended to bring the buttonhole and BSR accessories so they can calibrate them properly to your machine.

Un plug and re plug the foot pedal. If that doesn't work. Take it back.

They do burn out sometimes. Just locate and purchase a replacement.
