Hello gladyshbrown,
If the background is the only thing that is pink, then this will be as simple as changing your background color. the process is different depending on the operating system you are using, but if you right click on an empty space in your desktop chose either properties, or personalize. then choosing desktop.
If however this is not just affecting your background, meaning everything has a pink hue to it then it is most likely a hardware problem. To test this you can change to a different monitor, if the pink hue is gone then it is most definitely the monitor. However if the problem is the same on both monitors, then that would mean that your graphics card has gone bad. Many Pc's bought from dell, or hp have both video cards, and on board video. If this is the case with your Pc, you can move the monitor cable from where it is connected now, to the identical connection on the back of the computer. If you do switch to an on board video, please turn off your computer before plugging it in. This way when your computer is turned back on it will recognize that you are using a different video source. Most computers will do this automatically, however if it does not you will need to go into the "bios(cmos)" and enable onboard video. The option for bios is given as the computer first starts up. The key varies but it will be one of the following f1,f2,f10, or delete.
Good luck!
A pink hue is a sign the CCFL lamp is about to fail. The CCFL lamp is a fluro like tube approx. 2mm in diameter that is located on the bottom edge of the LCD screen that supplies the back light to the screen. Replacement CCFL lamp is available from this WEB site. www.lcdparts.net.
ladywoman197, 2 things for you to do. 1. disconnect-reconnect vga cable a few times from the DB15 vga port on the pc. If problem (pink hue) persists then try here: http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-blackout-solution/ Your unit may need some new capacitors installed on the power supply printed circuit board. Read fixya profiles of "budmrtn" "12fixlouie" and also visit youtube for video clips of lcd monitor repair. Do the vga cable thing first!!! Could also be vga graphics card inside pc not making good contact with monitor cable. 12fixlouie
If you have access to another monitor, check it with your computer. Pink or red hues are usually indicators of a failing backlight bulb or ccfl bulb that sits in the bottom of the display and lights up the lcd.
Make sure the LCD is completely attached to the system board. I've had them come partially out and cause this. If this doesn't help, your LCD and/or inverter could be going bad.
one try a degauss second check the cable wich connect the monitor to the pc video card. third. keep away the magnetic things like speackers from the monitor.. bye:)
