You can use your DirecTV remote to control certain functions on your TV. What you would need to do is get your DirecTV remote go to menu you're gonna want to go to settings, and then remote. From there you'll go to program remote, and toggle down until you get to your particular brand. At this point it's going to give you several different codes that you can try, along with directions on how to enter them into your remote. It may take several tries but you should come upon the code that works for you. If you've tried all the codes and none of them work, you can call DirecTV, and they should have more codes for you to try. I hope this helps!

Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Have you call your tv manufacturer, they will tell you to purchae another remote or if you have a menu" button on the front of your tv they will reset it for you . Hopes this helps!

I own a One-for-All universal remote (model URC-4220) , and my booklet says the setup code for an ESA TV ( without a built-in DVD or VCR) is 0171 or 0812. I can not guarantee these numbers will work with your remote, but it is worth a try.
The alternative choice, is to purchase the same remote that I have, which cost less than 10 dollars at Walmart.
