Apple iPhone 5S Logo

Smashed iphone 5s screen. the screen is black with light showing through the cracks. I can't get it to be recognized by my computer. I think because I can't press trust this computer?

If I replace the screen is it likely the phone will work again? Or is the fact that my computer won't recognize that it's even plugged in mean its got bigger issues? Also, the phone was reset before it broke so it's not set up again yet with my itunes account. So not sure if there are ways to test functionality.

Can't be certain, but could be the impact that broke screen damaged a board or component under the screen. My daughter had a similar fatality - the 5's screen was badly cracked, but worked for a while until it finally failed to be recognized by computer. She hasn't sent it to me yet for testing, so I can't be certain but it doesn't sound good. You can try to follow a you tube video on a tear down to at least do a visual inspection.

SOURCE: iphone wont turn on!!!

Hi slondon83,

I believe you will have to reflash your device, using the restore feature on iTunes and the CFU mode in you iPhone.

To restore your iPhone, you will have to enter to CFU mode:

1. turn off your phone, or wait it get turned off by itself.
2. press and hold the power button for exactly 3 seconds.
3. whithout leaving the power button, press the HOME button for another 10 seconds exactly.
4. after 10 seconds leave the power button but still, keep the HOME button pressed.

try all these steps, of course, while you iPhone is connected to your computer with the USB cable and the iTunes software is on.

you might be able to do it with this method too:

good luck!

My iPhone 5s was damaged when combination lock fell on top of it and cracked the screen. What should I do?

Plug your iPhone 5S into your computer via the USB cable, and as you open iTunes, press and hold both the top sleep button and the home screen button. When you see the Apple logo, release the top button, and then the home button. Supposedly this is some kind of way to access the iphone for software or something. I think that's the order I did.
Anyway, I did this and it forced a reboot on my phone. Then it booted up normally. Nothing was erased for me. I had a recent full backup just in case.
If the problem is still not solved you can take it to apple store or get a iPhone 5s lcd touch screen assembly and then replace the broken one.

How do i fix my iphone 5 screen

You could purchase some iPhone 5S screens off sites like eBay. There are also some videos on YouTube that show you how to. But I would recommend that you change it yourself, only if you are nifty with small tools. Professional help normally works well.

iPhone camera, just as most on the market, has a letter-box sensor dimension of 3/4 (or 2/3, not sure). iPhone 5 screen is wide-format (propably 16:9). You may either zoom in (double-tap) or crop the photos in photos-app to match the screen dimension. 8MPix photos have plenty of room for cropping, still filling the screen in iPhone 5 and also HD TV:s (1080x1920 = 2,073 MPix).
Video is 16:9 HD (1080x1920).

Why are there 2 black dots on my iphone 5s screen?

The screen is made up of several thousand LEDs and I suspect the screen is damaged. Take it back to Apple to get a replacement.

Does the iPhone 5s come with black around the edge of the screen?

It looks like for now the only iphone 5s that has the black around the screen is the grey, the other 2 options both have white around the edges.

Paring iphone 2013 huyndai elantra

I had no problem pairing my IPhone 5S. I was even able to pair my old IPhone 4. I tried the old IPhone 4 after seeing this post. what kind of problems are you having pairing the IPhone and what version is it? All I did was turn my Bluetooth on on my IPhone then i pushed the black hone button then hit the settings button on the phone screen then pressed the pairing button then pressed the add to button, once the phone is found it should show on IPhone as Elantra on the IPhone and put in the passkey that it shows on the Elantra screen ( factory default is 0000 ) then the screen in the Elantra will show pairing. then it's paired. then you can go through all the setting after the phone is connected. Just make sure before you get into the car your BLUETOOTH is turned on on your IPHONE or it won't connect till it is turned on and the phone won't connect while your foot is on the brake if you have push start.
