Hp2410 photosmart: shortcuts to hpqdirec.exe won't work. This takes you to scanner which I can get around. But I need the tool box to see ink levels and other features. Everything in the HP folder in Programs is shortcuts so nowhere to make a new shortcut that might work.

After installing teh FULL PSC 1410 all in one printer the "solution center" software is not installed. With the same driver when I installed previously it was there but after i format my computer...

you can locate the solution center program in the folder

C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\Hpqdirec.exe

open an explorer window, paste C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin into the address bar, find Hpqdirec.exe, hold alt, click and then drag to the desktop.

Click on the newly created shortcut, press F2 then rename it to HP Solution Center.

Printer Tool Box won't open and give me my ink levels

It could be the drive has become corrupted and should be reloaded, but to see ink levels all you have to do is to go to settings, and right click on the one you want to see, in order to display its properties.

Can't find tool box to check ink level - HP 6310 using Vista 2007

doesnt matter most printers have a feature of their own to check ink levels.
press the setup button on the printer and scroll down(with the arrow buttons) till you get tools press ok and now scroll through until you get ink level and select it by pressing the ok button, walla you should have your ink levels in front of you.

Now about the hp solution centre/hp director icon on your desktop (if you have installed the software).
Click on settings and click on printer toolbox and now check your estimated ink levels it will show the ink levels of the printer cartridges.

Scanner won't work but the printer does

Ok here is the answer you have all been waiting for - look on the CD that came with any HP printer for the mac and you will see that it is for 10.3.9 and 10.4. I bet you dollars to donuts you have the new 10.5 leopard software and you got the new printer for free from the apple store.

All is not lost - go to the hp website at www.hp.com and on the left side you will see a grey menu that says software and driver downloads click on it and type your product. The version right now is 9.7.1 once you get all the way through. DO NOT INSTALL THE HP INSTALLER FILE - it is the same as the CD.

Well on the off chance your using windows the same applies - delete the old software on your computer and follow the steps above. The version number you will need depends on what OS but just make sure it is the most recent and you should be fine.
