I recently had a bankerfox.a virus and tried to repair it using a download and now the computer will not boot and keeps powering down when I try to boot from the selection screen. Is this problem repairable without my original boot discs? Thank you

you will need a good virus programme to get rid of this or at least put it into quarantine.trojan are very bad.

Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
Reboot the computer As the computer is booting repeatadly press the F8 key as the computer is booting If done properly the user should get to a screen similar to the below screen. Select the option for Safe mode command prompt only Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option: Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode Start Windows Normally
Reboot

Sounds like you have a virus. boot into safemode with networking and download malwarebytes run that in safe mode. then restart into normal windows and run malware again. then i suggest downloading AVG its free and antivirus great program. also if you are using mcaffee dont use it. It slows your PC down way to much

Could be a virus - download a program called hitman pro here: http://download.cnet.com/Hitman-Pro-3-32-bit/3000-2239_4-10895604.html and run it, that should free you of any viruses, if the problem persists try reinstalling explorer and if that doesn't solve it try using the recovery partition on boot up and try repairing.

Try running a virus scan with Avast. Unless you want to pay money for a virus cleaner like Norton. http://www.avast.com

Scan the Computer using any latest updated anti virus program for any potential threat.

If the computer is not infected by any virus or trojan then you may also try performing System restore to the time when the Computer worked normally.

If the Computer keeps shutting down randomly after turning ON then the Power Supply Unit in the Notebook requires service.

Most likely a virus has or malware has got into the system try SAFEMODE and install or do virus check if this does not work get someone to download one of the well known free virus checks and when you use as boot CD it will do virus check other options are more drastic like take hard drive out and do virus check with another computer of Format but try and save date before these options are attempted

you can use the AVIRA anti virus software to scan and clean all the virus while repairing the demaged files its very effective you can go to their site www.avira.com for the download i believe it will solve the virus problem
