The interior light is out on our GE Profile Sensor Micorwave Oven. I don't see any directions on how to replace it. Can you help? The model number is JE 1860CB 001

You have to remove the outer cover to replace the bulb in this model.

The bulb is located in the air duct that covers the magnetron on the right side of the unit.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven (entered as JE1860CB01 without spaces) here.

See these links before proceeding:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had locally in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores or you can order them ahead of time here.

Replace light in overrange GE microwave

Advantum 120 over range microwave - with burned out interior bulb: Remove top fron grill cover -- held byu 2-3 screws on top. Remove sheetmetal plate that lies parallel to top of unit, just to the right of the square plastic porting on the far left of the unit. The sheet metal plating is about 12" wide and 8" deep and is shaped like 2 overlapping rectangles. It is held in place by 1-2 screws. (I don't recall if you needed to remove other plastic grid on right front -- I did, but I was still searching for the bulb). The bulb is located about 5" from the left side and about 2" in from the front, covered by a small sheetmetal box. THe bulb looks like the little halogen bulbs used in low-voltage outdoor lights - but is slightly larger - DO NOT REPLACE WITH THAT KIND OF BULB). Remove the one screw holding the box, unplug the bulb and find a replacement. Can't tell you where to get a bulb -- that's what I'm doing next. Good luck.

GE microwave interior light bulb replacement.

Your post has two distinct model numbers shown, so it's hard to be precise, but I'll try my best.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. Other models are similar. It's at
http://207.234.249.73/mwd/ge_lamp_replacement.jpg

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs!

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there.

There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), too.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

If yours is an Advantium type, the following instructable should help: http://www.instructables.com/id/SZFF4WSF44XYT8X/?comments=all

GE microwave interior light bulb replacement.

It's pretty simple as long as you have an offset phillips screwdriver...

Of course, be sure to disconnect power to microwave and be sure not to touch the new halogen bulb with fingers.

STEP-BY-STEP:
First, remove upper vent panel and remove inner filter (same directions for just replacing inner carbon filter):

Then, remove inner plastic grille (2 screws) and final screw on left side of metal "air duct" - here's where you'll need the offset screw driver (and a little patience!):

Then, you can gently lift the sheet metal panel, find the light housing, squeeze and remove/replace :)

That's it...just replace bulb and reverse for reassembly. Be sure to keep track of screw locations there are various sizes/lengths used.

Replacing interior light bulb

It may be an assembly with the bulb permanently fixed to the socket, requiring the replacement of both together.

Otherwise, in some cases manufacturers use glue or tape to keep the bulb from loosening.
